Aluminum Window Installation Process: From Survey to Fitting

t405-29

t405-29

The aluminum window installation process runs from an on-site survey and written specification, through client approval and factory production, to finishing and fitting on site. Each stage checks the measurements and details before the next one begins, so the windows arrive ready to install.

Step 1: Inquiry and Photos

The process starts with a short inquiry. Send us photos of the opening, the building and the area around the window, and tell us what you want to achieve, whether that is better insulation, more light, a sliding or a casement opening, or a match with existing frames.

Photos help us spot early issues such as an uneven wall, a balcony rail in the way, or an opening that faces a busy street. This first review tells us whether an on-site visit is needed and what to bring to it.

Step 2: On-Site Measurement

A member of our team visits the property to measure each opening. Measuring on site matters because older walls are rarely perfectly square, and a window made from design drawings alone can end up too tight or too loose.

  • Width and height at top, middle and bottom
  • Depth of the wall and the reveal
  • Sill condition and any tiling or stone to be fitted around
  • Access for lifting the frame into place

Step 3: Drawing and Written Specification

After measuring, we prepare a drawing of each window and a written specification. The document covers profile type, opening style, glass type, colour and finish, hardware, and how the frame will be fixed to the wall.

Read this carefully before approving. It is the reference for everything that follows, and any change is far easier to make at this stage than after production has started.

Step 4: Client Approval

You review the drawings and specification and confirm them in writing. If something does not match what you pictured, such as the direction of opening or the position of a handle, this is the time to say so. Once approved, the order moves to production.

If you are working with an architect, interior designer or building committee, we can send the drawings to them for sign-off as well.

Step 5: Factory Production and Finishing

The windows are cut, assembled and glazed in our factory at Rival Street 37 in Tel Aviv. Working in the factory lets us control the accuracy of each frame and check it before it leaves.

Finishing is done to protect the aluminum and match your chosen colour. Powder coating gives a durable, even surface in a wide range of shades. Each unit is checked against the specification before it is packed for delivery.

Step 6: Delivery and Fitting

On the agreed date, the windows are delivered and fitted. The frame is set level and plumb, fixed to the wall, and sealed so that water and draughts cannot get through. We then test that every opening, lock and handle works smoothly.

Ask the fitting team to walk you through how to operate and clean the windows. A quick check at handover makes sure nothing is left to fix later.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the aluminum window installation process take?

The timeline depends on the number of openings and the production schedule, so we confirm the dates with you once the specification is approved. Ask us for an estimate based on your project.

Do I need to be home for the site survey?

It helps to be present or to have someone who can give access and decisions. We can also work with an architect or contractor if that is more convenient.

Can I change the design after approving the drawings?

Small changes can often be made before production starts, but once the windows are in the factory, changes are harder and may affect the schedule. Raise any concerns at the approval stage.

Will the windows need to be measured again after production?

Our measurements are taken on site and checked against the drawing before production begins. Measuring carefully at the start is what keeps the fit accurate at installation.

Common mistakes to avoid

The most common mistake is approving drawings without checking the opening style and hardware position, which can lead to a window that swings the wrong way or sits where a handle gets in the way. Also avoid skipping the on-site measurement, since an unmeasured opening often hides surprises that show up only at fitting.

Our recommendation

Before approving, walk the drawings against the actual room and imagine opening and cleaning each window. Ask whether the fixing method suits your wall type, and confirm who handles any tiling or finishing around the frame.

Summary

The aluminum window installation process moves in clear steps: inquiry, on-site measurement, drawing and specification, approval, factory production with finishing, and fitting on site. Checking each step carefully gives you windows that fit well and work as planned.
