Barrier Gate Site Survey: What Your Factory Team Needs

t461-45

t461-45

A barrier site survey records the exact opening width, ground conditions, power and access points, and how vehicles approach the gate. Our factory team uses these details to draw a precise specification before anything is manufactured.

Why a Site Survey Comes Before Production

A parking barrier is built to fit one specific opening. Every measurement we take on site becomes part of the drawing, so a careful survey saves time and avoids rework in the workshop. Techno Kol Uzi manufactures every barrier to measure, which means the information you provide at this stage directly shapes the final product.

Think of the survey as the foundation of the order. The clearer the information, the faster we can move from inquiry to client approval and into production.

Measurements to Record on Site

Start with the clear width of the opening between the posts or walls, measured at the height where the boom will pass. Note the height available above the road surface and any obstacles such as curbs, signs or overhanging structures.

  • Clear width at ground level and at boom height
  • Distance from the road edge to the barrier position
  • Slope or level difference across the lane
  • Thickness and condition of the existing surface

Write each figure with its unit and a short note on where it was taken.

Ground, Foundation and Installation Conditions

Describe the ground where the barrier will sit. Is it new concrete, existing asphalt, tiles or bare earth? Each surface affects how the base is anchored. Mention any underground services you know of, such as cables or drainage lines, so the installer can plan around them.

If the lane drains poorly or floods in winter, say so. Water and debris affect the placement of the barrier housing and the choice of finish.

Power, Controls and Access

Tell us where the nearest power supply is and whether a dedicated circuit is available. Note who will operate the barrier, whether by remote, card reader, intercom or a guard, because this determines where control units and cables must be routed.

Share any existing access system you want the barrier to work with. A simple photo of the control point and the cable route is often more useful than a long description.

Traffic Flow and Safety Considerations

Describe how vehicles approach the barrier: straight on, at an angle, or from a turn. Note typical vehicle types, including vans, trucks or cars with low clearance. Mention pedestrians who share the lane, since they influence sensor placement and safety features.

Where the barrier must meet recognised safety requirements, our engineer will confirm the exact values with you. We do not guess at standards on the survey itself.

Photos, Drawings and Sign-Off

Send wide photos showing the full opening and close-ups of the posts, base and control point. A rough sketch with dimensions written on it is very helpful. We then prepare a drawing and a written specification for your approval before production begins in our factory at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv.

Nothing is manufactured until you have reviewed and approved the drawing, so you can correct any detail while it is still easy to change.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to measure the barrier opening myself?

You can, but it is not required. Send your best measurements and photos, and our team will confirm them during an on-site visit before production.

What is the most common survey mistake?

Measuring only the road width and forgetting the height and obstacles at boom level. Those details often change the design more than the width.

Should I mention future changes to the lane?

Yes. If you plan to resurface the road or add a second lane, tell us early so the base and cabling can allow for it.

Can the survey be done before the site is finished?

It is best to survey once the final surface and curbs are in place, because small level changes can affect the installation.

Common mistakes to avoid

Measuring only the road width and skipping height, ground level and power details leads to revisions. Taking photos from one angle also makes it hard for the team to judge the layout.

Our recommendation

Measure the opening at boom height, not just at the ground, and photograph the control point with the cable route visible. Those two items answer most questions before they are asked.

Summary

A complete barrier site survey covers the opening dimensions, ground conditions, power, access and traffic flow, supported by clear photos. This gives our factory team what it needs to produce an accurate barrier.
