Can You Fabricate Custom Metal Gates to an Architect's Drawing?
t492-32

Yes. Techno Kol Uzi fabricates custom metal gates directly from an architect's drawing, including iron, aluminum and stainless steel designs with specific dimensions, profiles and finishes. We review the drawing, confirm measurements on site, and produce the gate in our Tel Aviv factory to match the approved specification.
What we need from your drawing
A clear drawing is the foundation of any custom gate. We work best when the drawing shows the overall gate dimensions, the opening it fits into, the frame and infill layout, and the profile sizes if they matter to the design.
- Plan and elevation views with dimensions
- Material choice: iron, aluminum or stainless steel
- Infill pattern, motif or panel layout
- Hinge and latch positions, and whether it is manual or electric
- Finish requirements
If a detail is unclear, we will ask before production starts.
How we check the drawing before production
Before cutting any steel, our team reviews the drawing for buildability. We check that the frame sections can carry the gate weight, that the hinge positions suit the wall or post, and that the design can be assembled and transported without special handling.
We also compare the drawing against the actual opening. Walls are rarely perfectly square, so an on-site measurement is part of our standard process. Any differences are raised with you and the architect in writing.
On-site measurement and written specification
Our technician visits the site to measure the opening, the floor level, the wall material and the surrounding conditions. These measurements are compared with the drawing, and we prepare a written specification listing materials, profiles, dimensions, finishes and hardware.
The specification is sent for approval before production. This gives architects and designers a clear record of what will be built.
Factory production to your specification
Once approved, the gate is fabricated in our factory at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv, a workshop operating since 1945 and run today by the third generation of the family. Frames are cut, welded and assembled to the drawing, and infill elements are shaped and fitted.
Working in the factory allows precise control of joints, alignment and finish quality before the gate leaves the workshop.
Finishing and protection
Exterior gates need protection against weather and corrosion. Depending on the material and design, we use hot-dip galvanizing for steel and powder coating for a wide range of colors and textures. Stainless steel can be left in its natural finish or treated to suit the architectural intent.
Tell us the desired color or finish early, so the finishing step is planned into the schedule.
Installation and handover
Installation is carried out by our team, with the gate hung, aligned and adjusted on site. We check the swing, latch operation and clearances against the wall and floor. For electric gates, the motor, rails and control points are coordinated with the electrical work.
Once installed, we review the gate with you or the contractor so any final adjustments are made before handover.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to send a full construction drawing?
No. A clear sketch or elevation with main dimensions is often enough to start. We will confirm the details on site and in our written specification.
Can you work with an interior designer's drawing as well as an architect's?
Yes. We work with architects, designers, building committees and contractors. Whatever the source, we review the drawing and confirm it before production.
What if the site measurements differ from the drawing?
We report the differences in writing and propose an adjustment. Production starts only after the revised specification is approved.
Can the gate be made in more than one material?
Yes. Gates can be built in iron, aluminum or stainless steel, and sometimes combined in one design. We will advise which material suits the location and look.
Common mistakes to avoid
A common mistake is sending a drawing without key dimensions or material notes, which causes delays and revisions. Another is skipping on-site measurement, since small differences in the opening can affect fit and hinge alignment.
Our recommendation
Mark the hinge side, swing direction and fixed points clearly on the drawing, and decide the finish early. These three details prevent most fabrication issues.
