How Our Pergola Projects Begin: The Site Assessment Process

t376-11

t376-11

Every pergola project at Techno Kol Uzi starts with a site assessment, where we review your photos and measure the space in person. From those measurements we prepare a drawing and written specification for your approval before anything goes into production. This early planning is what keeps the finished pergola accurate and suited to your building.

Step 1: The First Inquiry and Photos

Most projects begin with a message and a few photos. Send us pictures of the area where the pergola will stand, from several angles, along with a rough idea of what you want it to shelter, such as a seating area, a car, or a sunny balcony. Tell us whether the structure will attach to a wall, a slab, or stand freely.

Photos help us understand the surroundings before we visit. We can spot obvious constraints early, like nearby windows, existing railings, or drainage paths, so the visit itself is more productive.

Step 2: On-Site Measurement

Our team visits the location to take exact measurements. We check the width, depth, and height of the planned area, the levels of the floor or slab, and the condition of the walls or columns where the structure will connect. Measuring on site avoids the errors that come from working off estimates.

  • Overall span and depth of the area
  • Height clearance and roof slope
  • Wall or slab material and anchoring points
  • Sun direction and wind exposure

Step 3: Drawing and Written Specification

Using the measurements, we prepare a drawing that shows the layout, post positions, beam spacing, and the roof or slat pattern you choose. Alongside the drawing, we write a specification that describes the materials, finish, and connection method in plain language.

This document is the reference for the whole project. Reviewing it carefully before approval is the best way to confirm that the pergola will look and function the way you expect.

Step 4: Client Approval

Nothing goes to the factory until you approve the drawing and specification. We welcome questions and small adjustments at this stage, because changes are simple to make on paper and far harder once steel has been cut. Please check dimensions, orientation, and finish choices together with us.

Step 5: Production in Our Tel Aviv Factory

Once approved, the pergola is manufactured to measure in our factory at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv. Iron and aluminum sections are cut, welded, and assembled according to the drawing. Finishing follows, which may include hot-dip galvanizing or powder coating, depending on the material and the exposure of the location.

Working in the factory allows us to check each component before it leaves for site, which makes installation smoother.

Step 6: Installation and Final Check

Our team installs the pergola on site, fixing it to the wall, slab, or foundation as planned in the specification. After installation we check alignment, level, and the security of all connections, and confirm that the structure matches the approved drawing. Any questions about the final result are answered before the job is closed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be home for the site visit?

It is helpful if you or someone who can make decisions is present, since we may discuss the layout and attachment points on the spot. Let us know your availability when you make the inquiry.

Can you build a pergola on an existing balcony or terrace?

Often yes, but the site assessment is essential because the structure must connect safely to the existing construction. We check the condition and load points before proposing a design.

What happens if the drawing does not match what I imagined?

Because you approve the drawing before production, we can revise it at no stage of fabrication. Tell us what you would like changed and we will update the plan.

Do you check building requirements during the assessment?

We take the relevant requirements into account when designing the structure, and exact technical values are confirmed together with the project engineer during planning.

Common mistakes to avoid

Ordering before measuring on site, or approving a drawing without checking dimensions and orientation, are the most common causes of problems. Take time at the assessment and approval stages, since they prevent most later corrections.

Our recommendation

Before the site visit, mark the intended footprint on the ground with tape or string and note any obstacles nearby. This gives our team a clear picture quickly and leads to a more accurate design.

Summary

Every pergola begins with photos, an on-site measurement, a drawing and specification you approve, then factory production and professional installation.
