Impact-Resistant Glass Partitions for Warehouse Loading Areas
t424-25

An impact resistant glass partition uses laminated or toughened glass in a sturdy metal frame to withstand knocks from forklifts, pallets and carts in a busy loading area. Techno Kol Uzi manufactures these partitions to measure, based on the site's traffic and layout.
Why loading areas need tougher glazing
Loading areas are among the hardest-working spaces in any warehouse. Forklifts turn sharply, pallets get swung around corners, and carts roll in with little warning. Standard glass that works fine in an office can crack or shatter in these conditions, creating a safety hazard and costly downtime.
An impact resistant glass partition is designed for this reality. It keeps the visibility and light that supervisors need while separating the workflow from offices, waiting areas and storage zones.
Glass types that handle impact
Two glass types are commonly used where knocks are likely:
Laminated glass
holds together when cracked, because a plastic interlayer keeps the fragments in place.Toughened glass
is heat-treated to be much stronger than ordinary glass and breaks into small, blunt pieces.
Many projects combine both, using laminated glass at lower levels where impacts are most likely. The right choice depends on the expected load and how the partition is used.
Frames and fixings that match the traffic
The glass is only as strong as its frame. For areas near forklift traffic, we recommend a steel or reinforced aluminum frame with solid base profiles and secure anchoring to the floor and walls. Corner posts and bottom rails can be made heavier where vehicles are most likely to make contact.
Hot-dip galvanized steel or a powder-coated finish helps the frame resist moisture, dust and the wear of daily use.
Protecting the partition from vehicles
A glass partition works best when it is combined with simple protection measures. Consider these points during planning:
- Bollards or guard rails at the base where forklifts turn
- Clear floor markings that show traffic lanes
- Visible height markers so drivers judge clearance
- Door positions set away from the most common turning paths
Measuring, drawing and approving the design
Every loading area is different, so the process starts with a site visit and accurate measurements. We take photos, record the layout and traffic routes, and prepare a drawing with a written specification. The client reviews and approves the design before production begins.
Exact structural values, such as railing and guard requirements, are checked with the project engineer, in line with the Israeli railing standard SI 1142 and the relevant project conditions.
From factory to installation
At Techno Kol Uzi, production takes place in our factory at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv. Frames are cut, welded and finished, then delivered for installation. Hot-dip galvanizing or powder coating is applied as specified. Installation is planned to minimize disruption, so loading operations can continue with as little interruption as possible.
Frequently asked questions
What makes a glass partition impact resistant?
It uses laminated or toughened glass set in a strong steel or reinforced aluminum frame. The combination helps it absorb knocks and resist breaking under repeated contact.
Is laminated or toughened glass better for loading areas?
Laminated glass is often preferred near forklift traffic because it stays in place when cracked. Toughened glass is also strong and is sometimes combined with laminated panels for the lower sections.
Can the partition be made to measure for our loading bay?
Yes. Every partition is manufactured to measure after an on-site visit, so the dimensions, height and door positions suit your layout.
Do you protect the frame from damp and wear?
Frames can be hot-dip galvanized or powder coated, which helps them resist moisture, dust and daily wear in a warehouse environment.
Common mistakes to avoid
A common mistake is installing standard glass or a light frame where vehicles turn, which leads to cracks and repeated repairs. Skipping the site measurement and traffic review also causes poor door positions and clearance problems.
Our recommendation
Plan the partition around the actual forklift paths, and strengthen the bottom rails and corner posts where contact is most likely. Ask for the design to be checked with your engineer before production.
Summary
Impact resistant glass partitions combine laminated or toughened glass with a robust frame, giving warehouse loading areas durable separation that keeps visibility high.
