Preparing Your Site Before Aluminum Window Installation Day
t404-31

Preparing for window installation means clearing access, confirming the measured openings, and making sure the work area is safe and ready before the crew arrives. A little planning on your side keeps the installation fast, clean, and free of surprises.
Start With the Measurement Visit
Before any aluminum window is built, our team visits your home to measure every opening on site. Walls are rarely perfectly square, so we measure each opening individually rather than relying on plans alone. Please make sure the person who knows the apartment well is present, and that we can reach all the openings safely.
- Point out any openings that are changing or being newly cut
- Mention existing frames or shutters that need to be removed
- Share photos of the surroundings if access is difficult
The measurements become the basis of the written specification you approve.
Confirm the Drawing and Specification
Once measured, you receive a drawing and a written specification listing the window sizes, opening styles, profile finish, and glazing. Read it carefully and check every window against the room it belongs to. Changes are far easier to make at this stage than after production has begun.
Only after your written approval does the order go into production at our Tel Aviv workshop, so take the time to confirm the details.
Clear the Area Around Each Opening
On installation day, the crew needs space to work. Move furniture, curtains, blinds, plants, and décor at least a meter away from each window being replaced. Remove wall-mounted items near the frame, such as hooks, shelves, or air conditioner brackets, if they are in the way.
- Take down curtains and rods
- Protect floors with cloths or sheets
- Keep pets and children in a separate room
Plan Access, Parking and Balconies
Aluminum windows are heavy, long, and handled by hand, so the path from the entrance to the opening must be clear. Make sure stairwells, hallways, and elevator access are unobstructed, and let your building manager know the installation date if the building requires notice.
If work is on a balcony or a higher floor, tell us in advance so the crew brings the right equipment and safety measures.
Check Electricity, Water, and Existing Finishes
Before the crew arrives, check for electrical cables, water pipes, and outlets close to the opening. If you are unsure where they run, tell us so we can work carefully around them. Note any cracks or damp areas near the frame, since they should be addressed before the new window goes in.
Let us know if the wall finish will need touch-up after installation, so this can be planned for.
Installation, Finishing and Handover
On the day, the old frame is removed if agreed, the new aluminum window is set level and fixed, and the gaps are sealed. Our team checks that each window opens, closes, and locks properly before leaving. Please walk around the apartment with the team to review each window together.
Keep the specification and handover notes, as they are useful for future maintenance and reference.
Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I prepare for window installation?
Begin preparing a few days before the installation date by clearing the rooms and checking access. Confirm the specification and measurements with our team well before production is scheduled.
Do I need to be home during installation?
It is recommended that an adult be present to answer questions and approve the final result. It also helps if someone can let the crew in and show them each opening.
What should I do with furniture near the windows?
Move furniture, curtains, and décor away from the openings before the crew arrives. Keeping at least a meter of clear space makes the work safer and faster.
Will the room be dusty after the installation?
Some dust and debris are normal during window work. The crew protects the floor where possible and cleans the work area before leaving, but covering nearby items beforehand helps.
Common mistakes to avoid
The most common mistakes are leaving furniture and curtains in the work area and not checking the access route for heavy frames. Forgetting to note existing cracks, damp spots, or nearby pipes can also cause delays.
Our recommendation
Walk through each room with the drawing in hand and mark every opening, access point, and nearby obstacle before the installation day. Share these notes with the team in advance so the work can be scheduled smoothly.
Summary
Good preparation covers accurate measurements, a clear work area, safe access, and an approved specification. With these steps in place, your aluminum window installation runs smoothly.
