Stainless Steel Industrial Staircases for Elevated Platforms

t468-39

t468-39

A stainless steel industrial staircase is a custom-fabricated access stair built to reach elevated platforms, mezzanines and equipment in plants. Stainless steel resists corrosion and is easy to keep clean, which suits humid or chemically active industrial sites. Each stair is designed to the exact rise, going, width and load required by the platform it serves.

Where Stainless Steel Staircases Make Sense in a Plant

Plant platforms, mezzanines and equipment access points often sit in wet, dusty or washdown areas where ordinary carbon steel rusts quickly. Stainless steel keeps its appearance and structural strength for years with minimal maintenance, which lowers the cost of repeated repainting and shutdowns.

  • Food and beverage lines with frequent washdown
  • Chemical and process areas with corrosive vapors
  • Outdoor platforms exposed to rain and salt air
  • Clean rooms and areas requiring hygienic surfaces

Choosing stainless steel at the design stage avoids replacing a corroded stair after a few seasons.

Measuring the Site and Defining Requirements

Accurate measurement is the foundation of a stair that fits and performs. We take on-site measurements of the total rise, the available footprint and any obstacles such as pipes, cable trays or walls. The usage pattern matters as well: how many people will climb at once, whether tools or carts will be carried, and whether the stair must meet a specific clearance around equipment.

Record the platform level, the floor level below and the exact opening in the slab or structure. Photos with dimensions written on them speed up the design review considerably.

Design, Drawing and Written Specification

After measurement, the design defines stringers, treads, landings, handrails and connections to the existing structure. Treads may be perforated or grated to reduce slipping and to let liquids drain. The specification covers material grade, finish, fixing method and load assumptions.

Before production you receive a drawing and written specification for approval. This is the point to confirm handrail heights, tread depth and any special requirements from your safety officer or engineer. Exact structural and safety values should always be verified with the responsible engineer for your site.

Fabrication in Our Tel Aviv Workshop

Once approved, the stair is fabricated at our factory at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv. Stainless steel is cut, formed and welded with attention to weld quality and dimensional accuracy, since parts that fit well on the drawing must also fit on site. Surfaces are cleaned and finished to remove weld discoloration and achieve a consistent appearance.

Because the stair is built in the workshop, most of the fitting work is done before it reaches the plant, which reduces time spent on the site.

Installation and Fixing to the Platform

Installation connects the stair to the platform edge and the floor below using anchors or fixings suited to the existing structure. The fixing method depends on concrete condition, steel framing and access. We check level, alignment and stair geometry before final fixing so that every tread sits firm and the landing matches the platform height.

  • Verify platform and floor levels before delivery
  • Protect the stair surfaces during installation
  • Test the handrail and fixings under user loading

Keeping the Stair Safe and Working Over Time

A stainless steel stair needs little maintenance, but regular checks keep it safe. Look at fixings and welds during routine plant inspections, clean away process residues that can cause staining, and make sure treads and handrails remain free of damage. Any change to the platform loading or equipment layout should be reviewed, as it may affect the stair design.

Keeping a copy of the approved drawing and specification on file makes future inspections and modifications faster.

Frequently asked questions

Why choose stainless steel rather than galvanized steel for an industrial stair?

Stainless steel resists corrosion from washdown, chemicals and humidity without needing repainting. It is often the better choice where hygiene or long-term appearance matters.

Can the stair be built to a non-standard height or footprint?

Yes, every industrial stair is made to measure from on-site dimensions. The rise, going, width and landing layout are set to suit your platform and available space.

Do you provide a drawing before production starts?

Yes, you receive a drawing and written specification for approval before fabrication begins. Production only starts once you confirm the design.

How do I know the stair meets safety requirements?

Handrail heights, tread geometry and load requirements should be confirmed with your engineer or safety officer. We build to the approved specification and can review the design with your engineer.

Common mistakes to avoid

Ordering a stair before measuring the actual platform height and opening leads to misfits on site. Skipping the approval of the drawing also causes costly changes after fabrication.

Our recommendation

Send the engineer the platform level, floor level and opening dimensions with photos before design begins, and have the handrail and load requirements confirmed in writing. This prevents most fitting problems.

Summary

Stainless steel industrial staircases give plants corrosion-resistant, low-maintenance access to elevated platforms when they are measured, designed and installed to the exact site conditions.
