Stainless Steel Sample Pieces for Design Approval
t467-48

Stainless steel sample pieces are small physical examples of a finish, edge detail or weld that let designers and clients see and touch the material before a full order goes into production. At Techno Kol Uzi, we prepare samples in the same stainless steel grade and finish planned for the project, so approval is based on what will actually be installed.
What a stainless steel sample piece shows
A sample piece is a short section of stainless steel prepared to represent the final product. It lets you check the surface finish, the color under daylight, the way brushed or polished lines run, and how an edge or joint is finished. Drawings and screen images cannot reproduce how stainless steel reflects light, so a physical piece removes guesswork.
- Surface finish and grain direction
- Edge and corner treatment
- Weld and joint appearance
- Fixing and connection details
Finishes we can demonstrate
Stainless steel is available in several surface finishes, and each one looks different in real conditions. Brushed finishes hide fingerprints and suit most interior and exterior work, while polished finishes give a sharper reflective look that needs more care. Showing these options side by side on sample pieces helps you choose the right one for the location and the level of maintenance you expect.
We discuss the finish with you before preparing the sample so the piece reflects the intended use.
How the sample process works with us
The sample follows the same steps as a full project. You send photos and a description of the location, we confirm the material and finish, and we prepare the piece in our factory at Rival Street 37, Tel Aviv. Once the sample is ready, you review it and approve or request changes before we start production.
- Inquiry with photos and project details
- Agreement on grade, finish and dimensions
- Sample preparation in the factory
- Your review and written approval
Checking the sample against the real site
Bring the sample to the site or hold it against the actual wall, railing or door frame if possible. Look at it in the lighting it will face, both morning and evening, because stainless steel can appear noticeably different under sunlight and indoor light. This is the stage where a color or finish preference is confirmed in its true context.
If the sample is for a railing or structural element, we also check the fixing points and the general proportions with you on site.
What to confirm before you approve
Approving a sample means agreeing to the details it represents, so make sure everything you care about is visible on it. Confirm the grade of stainless steel, the surface finish and direction, the edge profile, and the way welds are ground or blended. Note any requirement for protective film, cleaning or maintenance instructions, since these affect how the finished work will look over time.
Points to note in writing
- Grade and finish reference
- Edge and weld treatment
- Dimensions and tolerances discussed with the engineer
Why sample approval protects your project
Changing a finish after production is slower and more costly than changing it at the sample stage. A confirmed sample becomes the reference for the whole order, which reduces disagreement between the designer, the contractor and the client. It also gives building committees and architects a concrete example to review.
Techno Kol Uzi has operated since 1945 and is run today by the third generation of the family, bringing long experience with stainless steel works of many kinds.
Frequently asked questions
Do you make stainless steel sample pieces for every project?
Samples are available for stainless steel works where a finish, edge or weld needs confirmation before production. Tell us what you want to check and we will advise whether a sample is the right step.
How long does it take to prepare a sample?
Timing depends on the piece and the current workload, so we confirm the schedule once we know the details. We recommend starting the sample early so it does not delay your main project.
Can I see the finish before choosing a sample size?
Yes, we can discuss finish options and show how they look so you can narrow the choice first. The sample itself is then prepared to the chosen specification.
Should I approve the sample in writing?
Written approval is recommended because it becomes the reference for production. Keep a record of the agreed finish, edge detail and any notes on the sample.
Common mistakes to avoid
Approving a finish only from a screen image or a catalogue photo is a common error, since stainless steel looks very different in real light. Skipping the check against the actual site lighting can also lead to disappointment after installation.
Our recommendation
Look at the sample in both morning and evening light next to the surface it will sit against, and write down the agreed finish and edge detail before production begins.
Summary
A stainless steel sample piece lets you approve the finish, edge and weld in real form before full production, reducing changes and disagreement later.
