Stainless Steel Table Bases and Furniture Frames for Designers

t465-39

A stainless steel table base is a custom metal frame that supports a tabletop with the strength, finish and proportions your design needs. Techno Kol Uzi makes these bases to measure from your drawings, choosing the grade, profile and finish to suit the room and the load.

Why designers choose custom stainless steel bases

A table base is often the element that defines the whole piece. Off-the-shelf bases rarely match the exact height, footprint or visual weight you have in mind. Custom stainless steel lets you control every dimension, so the base sits precisely under the top and fits the proportions of the room.

Stainless steel also handles daily use well. It resists moisture and cleans easily, which suits dining tables, reception desks and commercial interiors. Because the material is cut and welded in our workshop, the joints can be made clean and visible or hidden, depending on the look you want.

What to send us with your inquiry

A clear starting point saves time on both sides. Send photos of the space or a reference piece, the intended tabletop size and material, and any dimensions you already have. If you have a sketch or a drawing, include it even if it is rough.

  • Overall height and tabletop dimensions
  • Expected load, such as a heavy stone top or regular use
  • Preferred finish: brushed, polished or matte
  • Whether the base will be fixed to the floor or stand freely

From drawing to finished frame

Once we receive your inquiry, we arrange a site visit when the piece must fit an existing space, and take measurements on location. We then prepare a drawing and a written specification covering dimensions, profiles, joints and finish. You review and approve it before any cutting begins.

Production happens in our factory on Rival Street in Tel Aviv. Approved frames are finished in the chosen surface treatment and delivered for installation. Working this way means the drawing you approve is the piece you receive.

Materials and finishes

Stainless steel is available in several finishes, and each changes how the base reads in a room. A brushed finish gives a soft, even sheen that hides fingerprints well. A polished finish reflects light and suits more formal or contemporary spaces. A matte finish feels quieter and works with warm woods and stone.

The choice of profile matters too. Square and rectangular tubes give a crisp, architectural line, while round sections feel softer. We can discuss the options with you and suggest what fits the overall concept.

Structure, stability and load

A table base has to carry its top safely and stay steady in use. The right wall thickness, profile size and base footprint depend on the top material and the size of the table. A heavy stone top needs a different frame from a lightweight glass one, and a long dining table needs more support across its length than a small side table.

For any specific load requirement, we review the design with you and check the details with the engineer, rather than relying on general rules of thumb.

Working with designers on a project

Designers often need a base to match a particular finish, a repeated detail across several pieces, or a frame that connects with other metalwork in the project. We are used to working from your drawings and adapting to the schedule of a larger fit-out. Clear communication at the approval stage keeps the project moving and avoids changes later on.

  • Send drawings or photos at the start
  • Confirm the finish sample before full production
  • Agree on installation timing with the site team

Frequently asked questions

Can you make a base to match a drawing I already have?

Yes. We work from your drawings and send back a detailed specification for approval before production. If anything is unclear, we will raise it with you before cutting begins.

Which stainless steel finish is best for a dining table?

Brushed finishes are a practical choice for dining tables because they hide fingerprints and everyday marks well. The final decision depends on the look of your space and the other materials in the room.

Do you visit the site before making a custom frame?

When the piece has to fit an existing space, we arrange an on-site measurement. This helps ensure the base matches the actual dimensions rather than the plan alone.

Can the base be fixed to the floor?

Yes, a base can be designed to be fixed or to stand freely, depending on how the piece is used. We discuss the fixing method during the specification stage.

Common mistakes to avoid

Ordering a base before the tabletop material and final dimensions are fixed often leads to a frame that does not suit the top. Choosing a finish from a small sample without seeing it in the room can also disappoint.

Our recommendation

Settle the top material, size and finish first, then approve a written specification before production starts. A quick finish sample in the actual lighting of the space prevents most surprises.

Summary

Custom stainless steel table bases give designers full control over height, proportion and finish, made from their drawings and approved before production. Techno Kol Uzi has produced metalwork in Tel Aviv since 1945.
