Steel Mezzanine Office Floors | Custom Steel Frames
t480-22

A steel mezzanine office is an intermediate floor built inside an existing space, using a custom steel frame, to add usable area without moving or extending the building. It is manufactured to measure in our Tel Aviv factory, then installed on site once the structural and layout details are approved.
What a steel mezzanine offers an office
A mezzanine adds a second working level above part of your current floor, which is useful when you need more desks, meeting rooms or storage but cannot move to a larger space. Because it sits within the existing shell, it often avoids the cost and disruption of relocation and keeps your address and lease unchanged.
Steel suits this use well. It allows long spans with slim members, which keeps the ground floor open and bright, and the structure can be fitted around ducts, columns and ceiling heights.
Planning the layout and loads
Before any design starts, we need to understand how the space will be used. The floor load depends on whether the mezzanine will hold light desks or heavy archive shelving, so the intended use defines the structure.
- Available ceiling height above and below the new level
- Position of existing columns and beams
- Access route, such as a stair or lift
- Planned partitions and furniture
Final load values and member sizes are checked with the structural engineer.
How we make it: from measurement to drawing
The process starts with your inquiry and photos. We then visit the site to measure the room precisely, since small variations in existing walls and floors affect how the frame fits. Based on those measurements we prepare a drawing and a written specification covering the steel profiles, floor finish, stair and railing details.
Nothing goes into production until you approve the drawing. This avoids surprises and keeps the work predictable for your team.
Materials, finishing and safety
Our frames are fabricated in our factory from structural steel. For protection we use hot-dip galvanizing or powder coating, depending on the environment and the look you want. Railings around the open edge of the mezzanine must meet the Israeli railing standard SI 1142, and we confirm the exact dimensions with your engineer.
Choose a floor surface that suits office use, such as wood, concrete panels or raised flooring, and discuss acoustics if the lower level is a busy area.
Installation and working around your office
Installation is carried out in stages so the office can keep operating where possible. We plan the lifting and fixing sequence in advance, protect existing finishes and agree on working hours that suit your staff and building.
Once the frame is fixed, the flooring, stair and railings are completed and the area is cleaned before handover.
Choosing the right partner
A mezzanine is a permanent structure, so the quality of design and fabrication matters. Ask for a written specification, confirmation of the finishing method and a clear description of who checks the structure. Our workshop has been in operation since 1945 and is run today by the third generation of the family, so we bring long experience in custom steelwork to each project.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a permit for a steel mezzanine in my office?
Requirements depend on the building and the local planning rules, so check with your building manager or architect before work begins. We can provide the drawings and specification your submission needs.
How long does the process take from inquiry to installation?
Timing depends on the size of the project and the approval steps, so we confirm the schedule after the site measurement. We do not commit to fixed delivery times before we have seen the space.
Can a mezzanine be built in an existing office without closing it?
In many cases yes, because installation can be phased and planned around working hours. We discuss the access and noise plan during the design stage.
What finish is best for a steel mezzanine in an office?
Hot-dip galvanizing gives strong corrosion protection, while powder coating offers a wide range of colors. The right choice depends on the environment and the style of your office.
Common mistakes to avoid
Ordering the frame before measuring the room and confirming the load requirements often leads to redesign. Skipping the written specification also makes it hard to compare options fairly.
Our recommendation
Decide the intended use and load first, then have the structure and railings checked against the relevant standard before fabrication. Ask for a drawing that shows the stair position and clear height so the layout works in practice.
Summary
A custom steel mezzanine adds real floor space to an office without relocating, provided the design is based on accurate measurements and approved drawings.
