How to Order a Custom Pergola: Step-by-Step Guide
t364-33

To order a custom pergola, start with an inquiry including photos and your rough dimensions, then arrange an on-site measurement and receive a written drawing and specification. After you approve the design, the piece is manufactured to measure in our Tel Aviv factory, finished, and installed at your site.
Step 1: Send an Inquiry with Photos
The first step is to tell us what you have in mind. Send photos of the area where the pergola will stand, a rough sketch if you have one, and a few words about how you plan to use the space: shade for a seating area, a car parking cover, or a decorative feature over a garden or terrace.
Also mention whether you prefer iron, aluminum, or a combination, and the approximate size you are considering. The more context you give at this stage, the faster we can understand your needs and prepare for the measurement visit.
Step 2: On-Site Measurement
Once the inquiry is reviewed, we arrange a visit to measure the space. During the visit we check the exact dimensions, the surface the pergola will be fixed to, the slope and drainage of the ground, and any obstacles such as pipes, cables, or existing structures.
- Exact width, length and height at the attachment points
- Type of wall, floor or base where the structure is fixed
- Sun direction and where shade is most useful
Step 3: Drawing and Written Specification
After the measurement we prepare a drawing and a written specification. The document describes the profiles, the frame layout, the roof or cover type, the finish, and the fixing method. Read it carefully and ask questions about anything that is unclear.
This is the stage where design changes are easiest and cheapest to make, so take your time to confirm the layout, the height and the position of posts before moving on.
Step 4: Client Approval
Once you are satisfied with the drawing and specification, you give written approval. This approval becomes the reference for production, so everything you agreed on should be included in the document. If you later want changes, we review them before any material is cut.
Approval also lets us plan the production schedule in the factory, which keeps the process organized for you as well.
Step 5: Factory Production and Finishing
The pergola is manufactured to your measurements in our factory at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv, where the metalwork has been carried out since 1945. Cutting, welding and assembly are done by our team, and the structure is checked against the approved drawing.
For outdoor use, the iron parts are protected by hot-dip galvanizing and then powder coated in the color you choose. Aluminum parts receive their own suitable finish. These steps help the structure withstand sun, rain and humidity over the years.
Step 6: Installation at Your Site
On the agreed date, the pergola is delivered and installed. Fixing methods depend on the base, whether it is concrete, tiles or a wall, and we confirm the anchoring before final assembly. After installation we check levelness and stability together with you.
A short walkthrough at the end explains how to care for the finish and what to check periodically.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the ordering process take?
The timeline depends on the complexity of the design and the current workload in the factory. We confirm the schedule once the drawing has been approved, so you know what to expect before production starts.
Do I need to be present for the measurement?
It is helpful if you or someone who knows the space can be present, since they can point out obstacles and preferences. We can also coordinate with your contractor or architect if they are managing the project.
Can I change the design after approval?
Changes are possible before production begins, and we will review how they affect the structure and schedule. Once material is cut, changes become more difficult, so it is best to finalize details at the approval stage.
Which material is better, iron or aluminum?
Iron offers a heavier, more traditional look and suits many structures, while aluminum is lighter and well suited to modern designs. We help you choose based on the space, the load, and the style you want.
Common mistakes to avoid
The most common mistakes are approving a drawing without checking the exact height and post positions, and choosing a finish without considering the sun and weather exposure. Take time to review the specification before you sign.
Our recommendation
Mark the area you want covered with string or tape on site before the measurement visit, so you can judge the size and the shade direction in real life. This simple step makes the drawing review much more accurate.
Summary
Ordering a custom pergola follows six clear steps: inquiry, on-site measurement, drawing, approval, factory production and installation. Careful review at the drawing stage gives the best result.
