Intercom and Access Control Added to Your Gate
t279-24

A gate intercom installation lets you see and speak with visitors before you open the gate, and access control adds keypad, card, or remote entry so only authorized people get in. Both can be fitted to new or existing gates made to measure at our Tel Aviv factory. We check the gate's motor, wiring route, and mounting position first, then agree the setup with you in writing.
Why screen visitors at the gate
The gate is the first line of defense for a home or yard. Without a way to check who is outside, you either open blindly or walk down every time someone rings. Visitor screening solves this by letting you confirm identity, decide quickly, and keep unwanted people out of the property.
Screening also helps with deliveries and service visits. You can speak to the courier, let the electrician in, and stay in control of who enters without being on the spot.
Intercom options for gates
Gate intercoms come in several forms, and the right one depends on how you use the entrance:
- Audio intercom with a call button and speaker
- Video intercom with a camera so you can see the visitor
- Wireless handset or smartphone-linked units for calls away from home
Video units are useful when the gate faces a street or a shared path, because you can confirm the face before opening.
Access control: keypad, card and remote
Access control decides who can open the gate without calling you. Common methods include a keypad code, proximity cards or tags, and individual remote controls. Each user can be given their own credential, so you can remove one without changing the code for everyone.
Combining intercom and access control works well for families and building committees: residents enter with a card, while visitors call and are let in by the homeowner.
How installation is planned
Before anything is wired, we visit the site and measure the gate, its motor, and the distance from the power source. We also check where the call post can sit so it is easy to reach from a car and out of the weather. The gate is built to measure in our factory, so intercom and access hardware can be integrated into the design rather than bolted on afterward.
You receive a drawing and a written specification showing the equipment and cable routes. Installation starts only after you approve it.
Wiring and compatibility with your gate
Not every gate motor accepts every control unit, so compatibility matters. We confirm the motor type, power supply, and whether the existing cabling can be reused. In some cases a new cable run to the call post is needed, and we explain this during the site visit so there are no surprises.
For electrical safety, final connections should be made by a qualified electrician. We coordinate with your electrician so the gate, motor, and intercom work together reliably.
Maintenance and day-to-day use
Once installed, intercom and access systems need little care beyond keeping the call post clean, checking the camera lens if fitted, and replacing batteries in remote units where used. Change keypad codes periodically and deactivate cards that are no longer needed.
If you notice the gate responding slowly or the intercom crackling, contact us early, as the cause is often a loose connection that is simple to fix.
Frequently asked questions
Can an intercom be added to my existing gate?
In many cases yes, but it depends on the motor and the wiring route. We inspect the gate on site and tell you what is needed before any work starts.
What is the difference between an intercom and access control?
An intercom lets you hear and speak with a visitor, while access control decides who can open the gate by code, card, or remote. Many homes use both together.
Is a video intercom worth the extra cost?
It is especially useful when the gate faces a street or shared path, since you can confirm who is outside. For a private, enclosed yard an audio unit may be enough.
Who does the electrical connection?
We plan the installation and coordinate with a qualified electrician for the final electrical connections, so the gate and controls work safely together.
Common mistakes to avoid
Choosing equipment before checking motor compatibility is the most common error, and placing the call post where it is exposed to weather or hard to reach from the car. Both are avoided by a site visit before ordering anything.
Our recommendation
Decide early whether you need to see visitors, control access by credential, or both, and plan the cable route at the same time as the gate design. Doing this in the factory-built stage costs less and looks cleaner than retrofitting later.
Summary
A gate intercom installation with access control gives you safe, controlled entry for your home, planned around your existing or new gate.
