Ordering a Made-to-Measure Gate in Your Chosen Style

t276-47

t276-47

A made-to-measure gate is designed and fabricated to the exact opening, slope and style you choose, rather than picked from a standard size. At Techno Kol Uzi the process runs from a photo inquiry and on-site measurement through a written drawing, your approval, factory production with finishing, and installation.

Start with the style you want

Before measuring anything, decide what the gate should say about your home. Some owners prefer clean lines and a solid panel, others want an open pattern that lets air and light through, and many combine the two. Think about the materials around the gate too, such as the fence, the house facade and the paving, so the new gate looks like it belongs.

Bring photos of gates and railings you like. Photos help us understand proportions, infill density and finish, and they save time in the first conversation.

Measure the opening and the site

A gate has to fit the real opening, which is rarely perfectly level or square. We measure on site: width, height, the swing path, the slope of the ground and the type of post or wall it will hang from. Clearances matter, especially if the gate opens onto a driveway or a step.

  • Note any obstacles such as steps, planters or cars parked nearby.
  • Tell us whether the gate is manual or motorized.
  • Mention the direction it should swing.

Choose the infill, frame and finish

The frame gives the gate its strength, and the infill defines its look. Bars, flat strips, perforated panels and glass each behave differently in wind, privacy and maintenance. Tell us how much privacy you need, since a solid panel blocks the view while a vertical bar pattern keeps the yard visible.

For the finish, hot-dip galvanizing protects steel against weather, and powder coating adds the color you want. We discuss which combination suits your location and how often the gate will be used.

Review the drawing and approve

After measuring, we prepare a drawing and a written specification showing dimensions, profile sizes, the infill layout, the hinges and the lock position. Read it carefully and ask questions. Changes are much easier to make on paper than after production has started.

Once you approve the drawing, we confirm the final details in writing. This approval is what starts fabrication.

Production, finishing and installation

The gate is cut, welded and assembled in our Tel Aviv factory, where each piece is checked against the drawing. After assembly it goes through the chosen surface treatment and then to installation, where we fix the hinges, set the latch and adjust the gate so it closes smoothly.

If your gate includes railings or other elements, the design is checked against the Israeli railing standard SI 1142, and exact dimensional requirements are confirmed with the project engineer.

Keep it working for years

A well-made gate still needs basic care. Rinse off salt and dust in coastal areas, check hinges and fixings twice a year, and touch up small scratches in the coating before rust can start. Avoid hanging heavy loads on the gate and keep the path clear so it does not drag.

If anything changes, such as a new vehicle or a different ground level, call us and we will check whether an adjustment is needed.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a made-to-measure gate take from order to installation?

Timing depends on the design, the finish and the current workload, so we confirm the schedule when the drawing is approved. Ask us for an estimate based on your project.

Can I combine different materials in one gate?

Yes, a common approach is a steel frame with aluminum or glass infill, or a solid panel with an open decorative top. We check that the materials and weights work together before production.

Do I need to be home for the measurement?

It helps to be present, since we can discuss the swing direction, the entrance and any obstacles with you directly. If that is not possible, send clear photos and the access details in advance.

Can you make a gate that matches my existing fence?

Yes, we can copy the profile, spacing and finish of an existing fence. Bring a photo and, if possible, a sample piece so we can match it closely.

Common mistakes to avoid

The most common mistake is ordering from an approximate measurement without checking the slope and swing path on site. Choosing a solid infill for a windy location can also put heavy stress on hinges and posts.

Our recommendation

Measure the opening at the top, middle and bottom, and tell us about the ground slope before we draw anything. Decide on the privacy level first, because it determines the infill and therefore the look and the cost of the rest of the design.

Summary

Ordering a made-to-measure gate is a clear process: choose your style, measure on site, approve a written drawing, then accept factory production and installation. Working from your real opening and your chosen finish gives you a gate that fits and lasts.
