Requesting a Custom Gate Design for Your Property

t276-46

t276-46

To request a custom gate design, send photos of your entrance, the approximate width and height you need, and a few style references you like. The factory then measures on site and prepares a drawing and written specification for your approval before production begins.

What a Custom Gate Design Request Includes

A good request starts with clear information about your entrance. Photos taken straight on and from a step back help us see the wall, pillars, and surrounding finishes. Note whether the gate is for a pedestrian opening, a vehicle entrance, or both, since this changes the structure and hardware.

Add any style references you already like, such as a photo from a magazine or a neighbor's gate. Mention the material you have in mind, whether iron, aluminum, or stainless steel, and whether you want the gate to be solid, slatted, or partly glazed. The more detail you give at this stage, the fewer revisions you will need later.

Measuring the Opening On Site

Once the request is received, our team visits the property to measure the opening accurately. We check width, height, the slope of the ground, the wall thickness, and the position of posts and pillars. Small differences matter, so measurements are taken at several points rather than assumed from a single figure.

  • Clear opening width at top, middle, and bottom
  • Ground level and any slope toward the street
  • Pillar or wall construction and fixing points
  • Space needed for an automatic operator, if desired

From Sketch to Written Specification

After measurement, we prepare a drawing that shows the gate layout, pattern, and key dimensions. Alongside the drawing comes a written specification listing materials, profile sizes, finish, hardware, and how the gate will be hung. You review both documents before anything goes into production.

This is the stage to ask questions. If you want a different infill pattern, a lower height, or a change in color, say so now. Approving the drawing and specification in writing is what allows the factory to start work with confidence.

Choosing Style, Pattern, and Finish

Design choices affect both looks and durability. Straight vertical bars give a classic look, while decorative scrolls or geometric panels suit more contemporary homes. Solid panels offer privacy and wind protection but add weight, which the hinges and posts must support.

For finish, hot-dip galvanizing followed by powder coating is a common choice for outdoor steel because it protects against weather. Discuss color options with us and ask to see finish samples before approving the specification.

Safety, Use, and Practical Details

Think about how the gate will be used every day. Consider the swing direction, clearance above paving, and whether children or pets need a secure closure. For a gate that opens onto a sloped driveway, the design may need to account for how it sits when open and closed.

Where a railing or pedestrian gate is involved, the Israeli railing standard SI 1142 is relevant. We confirm exact dimensions with the engineer rather than relying on general rules of thumb.

After Approval: Production and Installation

Once you approve the specification, the gate moves into production in our Tel Aviv factory. Each section is cut, welded, and assembled to the measurements taken on site, then finished. Our team then installs the gate at your property and checks that it swings and latches correctly.

Let us know your preferred timing for installation so we can coordinate access and any work by other trades, such as paving or automation wiring.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to send exact measurements before requesting a design?

Approximate width and height are enough to start. We take precise measurements on site before preparing the drawing.

Can I request a gate that matches my existing railings or windows?

Yes. Send photos of the surrounding ironwork or aluminum so we can match profiles, colors, and patterns.

Will I see a drawing before the gate is made?

Yes. You receive a drawing and a written specification, and production starts only after you approve them.

Can the gate be fitted with an electric operator?

Yes. We can plan space and wiring for an electric operator during the design stage if you want one.

Common mistakes to avoid

Many owners skip sending photos of the surroundings and then find the gate does not match the wall or pillars. Approving a design without checking the swing path and clearance is another common and costly error.

Our recommendation

Before approving, walk the swing path yourself and imagine the gate fully open and closed, including any car or pedestrian traffic. Ask for a finish sample so the color is confirmed on real material rather than on a screen.

Summary

A custom gate design request works best with clear photos, rough dimensions, and style references, followed by on-site measurement and written approval of the drawing.
