Ordering Custom Handrails: From Inquiry to Delivery

t362-33

t362-33

Ordering custom handrails follows a clear path: you send an inquiry with photos, we measure on site, prepare a written drawing and specification, and you approve it before production starts. The handrails are then fabricated in our Tel Aviv factory, finished, and installed at your property.

Step 1: Sending your inquiry

The process starts with a simple inquiry. Send us photos of the staircase or balcony where the handrail will go, along with a short description of the space and the material you prefer, such as iron, stainless steel, aluminum or glass infill.

  • Photos from several angles, including the top and bottom of the stairs
  • A rough sketch or the approximate length and height
  • Your preferred style and finish

Based on this, we can tell you early whether the design suits the space and which questions we need answered during the site visit.

Step 2: On-site measurement

Accurate measurement is the foundation of a handrail that fits. A technician visits the property and measures the exact run, the height of each point, the wall or floor fixings, and any obstacles such as corners, lighting or uneven surfaces. Measuring by hand on site is far more reliable than estimating from photos alone.

If the staircase is still under construction, we recommend measuring after the final floor and wall finishes are in place, since even a few millimeters of tile or plaster change the fit.

Step 3: Drawing and written specification

After measuring, we prepare a drawing showing the handrail shape, dimensions, bracket positions, and the material and finish. A written specification accompanies the drawing so nothing is left to interpretation.

What to check in the drawing

  • Overall length and height of each section
  • Bracket spacing and fixing method
  • Profile size and wall clearance
  • Finish: hot-dip galvanizing, powder coating or stainless steel

Step 4: Client approval

No production starts until you have reviewed and approved the drawing and specification. Take your time with this step. Check the dimensions against your own understanding of the space, confirm the finish colour, and ask about anything unclear. Changes are far simpler to make at this stage than after fabrication.

Once you approve in writing, the order moves to the factory floor.

Step 5: Factory production and finishing

Our team cuts, bends and welds the handrail sections in the workshop at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv, where the work has been done since 1945. Parts are then finished, typically by hot-dip galvanizing for outdoor durability or powder coating for a chosen colour. Each piece is checked against the drawing before it leaves the factory.

Working in the factory means the handrail is built to measure in controlled conditions, not adjusted awkwardly on site.

Step 6: Delivery and installation

The finished handrail is delivered and installed at the property. Installation includes fixing the brackets securely to the wall or steps and confirming that the rail is level, firm and at the correct height. Where relevant, we check the design against the Israeli railing standard SI 1142 in general terms, and exact values are verified with your engineer before installation.

After installation, we walk through the result with you so any final adjustments can be made while the team is still on site.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the whole process take?

The timeline depends on the size of the project and the current workload, so we confirm it with you after the inquiry and measurement. Ask us for an estimate tailored to your handrail.

Do I need to be present for the site measurement?

It helps to be present or have someone who can show the technician the exact spaces, fixing points and any obstacles. This avoids misunderstandings later.

Can I change the design after approving the drawing?

Changes are possible before production starts, but they are much harder once fabrication has begun. That is why we ask you to check the drawing carefully at the approval stage.

Do you install the handrails yourselves?

Yes, our team handles installation so the handrail is fixed correctly, level and secure at the property.

Common mistakes to avoid

The most common mistake is approving a drawing without checking the dimensions against the real space, or measuring before final floor and wall finishes are in place. Both can lead to a handrail that does not fit.

Our recommendation

Measure and confirm the final surfaces before ordering, and make all design decisions such as finish and bracket layout at the approval stage. Changes made early cost far less than changes after production.

Summary

Ordering custom handrails means inquiry, accurate on-site measurement, a clear drawing you approve, factory production with proper finishing, and professional installation.
