Pergola Quality Control: How We Check Every Build
t376-17

Pergola quality control at Techno Kol Uzi is a series of checks at every stage, from on-site measurement and written drawings to factory production, finishing and final installation. Each step is confirmed with the client before the next one begins, so the finished pergola matches the agreed specification.
Step 1: Accurate On-Site Measurement
Every pergola starts with a measurement taken at the place where it will stand. We check the span, the height, the slope of the surface and the condition of the walls or posts it will be fixed to. Photos from the client help us, but they never replace a physical check.
- Width and depth measured at more than one point
- Wall or column condition and fixing options
- Sun direction, drainage and access for installation
Measurements are recorded on a site sheet that the client can review.
Step 2: Drawing and Written Specification
Before production we prepare a drawing and a written specification showing profile types, dimensions, roof or cover material, connection details and finish. This document is the reference for everything that follows. Nothing is cut until the client has read it and approved it in writing.
If a detail is unclear, we ask rather than assume. Structural questions are checked with the responsible engineer where needed.
Step 3: Checks During Factory Production
In the workshop, each piece is checked against the drawing as it is cut, drilled and welded. Our team verifies lengths, angles and hole positions before parts move to the next station. Welds are inspected for completeness and clean finish, and frames are checked for square and flatness on a level surface.
Aluminum and iron parts are kept separate and labeled so that materials are never mixed up during assembly.
Step 4: Finishing Inspection
Finishing is where many problems show up, so it gets its own check. Iron parts are hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection and then powder coated where a colored finish is specified. Aluminum components are inspected for surface damage and coating consistency.
- Coating thickness and even color
- No scratches, runs or bubbles on visible faces
- Protective film kept on until installation
Step 5: Pre-Delivery Test Assembly
Before the pergola leaves the factory, the main sections are assembled to confirm that everything fits together as drawn. Bolt holes line up, connections sit correctly and moving parts operate smoothly. Problems found here are fixed in the workshop, not on the client's roof terrace.
Step 6: Installation and Final Handover
On site, our installers check the level, anchoring and alignment of the pergola against the drawing. Fixings are chosen for the wall or floor type, and loose or unsafe connections are corrected before we leave. At handover we walk through the completed work with the client and note any points that need attention.
Frequently asked questions
Do you check the pergola against the drawing before installation?
Yes. Each main section is test-assembled in the factory and compared with the approved drawing. This catches fit issues before anything reaches the site.
How are iron pergolas protected from rust?
Iron parts are hot-dip galvanized and, where specified, powder coated. Finishing is inspected for coating thickness, color and surface damage.
Can I see the specification before production starts?
Yes. We send a drawing and written specification for your approval. Production only begins once you have confirmed it in writing.
Who checks the installation?
Our own installers check level, alignment and anchoring on site, and we review the finished work with you at handover.
Common mistakes to avoid
A common mistake is approving a pergola from photos alone, without a measured site visit and a written specification. Another is leaving finishing and fixing choices undecided, which can lead to changes after production has begun.
Our recommendation
Ask for the drawing and the finish details in writing before you agree to production, and check that the measurements match your actual site. Confirm the fixing method for your wall or floor type at the same time.
Summary
Good pergola quality control means measuring carefully, approving a written drawing, checking each stage in the factory, inspecting the finish, and confirming the fit on site before handover.
