Stair Railing Installation Process: What Happens Step by Step

t335-21

t335-21

The stair railing installation process starts with an inquiry and on-site measurement, followed by a written drawing and specification that you approve. The railing is then fabricated to measure in our Tel Aviv factory, finished with galvanizing or powder coating, and fitted on site. Each stage is checked so the final railing is safe, level and matched to your staircase.

Step 1: Inquiry and Photos

Every project begins with a simple inquiry. Send us photos of your staircase, the wall or open side, and any existing railing you want replaced. Tell us the material you prefer, such as iron, stainless steel, aluminum or glass infill, and whether the railing is for an indoor or outdoor stair.

Photos help us understand the layout before we visit, so we can tell you early whether the design you have in mind suits the space.

Step 2: On-Site Measurement

A technician visits your home to measure the stair accurately. We check the rise and run of each step, the height of the handrail, the landing lengths and the anchoring surfaces in the wall, floor or steps.

  • Length and angle of each flight
  • Wall or floor condition for anchoring
  • Obstacles such as lights or door swings

Accurate measurement is the foundation of a railing that fits without forcing.

Step 3: Drawing and Specification

Based on the measurements, we prepare a drawing and a written specification. These show the railing shape, post positions, baluster spacing, materials, dimensions and the finish. You review the drawing and tell us what to change.

We only move to production after you approve the drawing in writing, so there are no surprises when the railing arrives.

Step 4: Fabrication in Our Factory

Once approved, the railing is cut, welded and assembled in our factory at Rival Street 37 in Tel Aviv. Each piece is made to the measured dimensions rather than taken from stock, which allows the railing to follow the exact line of your stairs.

Welds are ground and checked, and the railing is dry-fitted where practical to confirm the geometry before finishing.

Step 5: Finishing

The finish protects the railing against weather and wear. Depending on the material and location, we use hot-dip galvanizing for steel exposed to outdoor conditions, or powder coating for a durable colored surface. Stainless steel and aluminum are finished according to the look you choose.

Finishing is done before installation so that the railing reaches your home in its final condition.

Step 6: On-Site Installation

Our team installs the railing on your stair, fixing posts to the steps, wall or floor with suitable anchors. We check that the handrail is secure, the balusters are plumb and the gaps meet the safety requirements of the Israeli railing standard SI 1142. Exact dimensions and load values are verified with the responsible engineer during the project.

After fitting, we review the railing with you and make any final adjustments.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the stair railing installation process take?

The timeline depends on the project size, the material and the finish selected. Your quotation and project plan will give you the expected schedule for your specific staircase.

Do I need to be home during the measurement and installation?

It is helpful to be present for the measurement so you can explain how you use the stairs. For installation, someone should be available to confirm the final position and approve the result.

Can you install a railing on an existing staircase?

Yes, we fit new railings to existing stairs. The on-site measurement checks the steps and wall so the anchors and posts are placed correctly.

Which material is best for an outdoor stair railing?

Galvanized steel with a powder-coated finish is a common choice for outdoor stairs because it resists weather well. We can recommend the best option for your exposure and style.

Common mistakes to avoid

Ordering a railing without an accurate measurement or approving a drawing that does not show the anchoring details often leads to poor fit and extra work. Always check the drawing carefully before production begins.

Our recommendation

Measure your staircase carefully, including the handrail height and the wall condition, and send clear photos with your inquiry. Approving a detailed written drawing before production is the single best way to avoid changes later.

Summary

The stair railing installation process moves from inquiry and measurement to drawing, factory fabrication, finishing and on-site fitting. Each step ensures a safe, custom railing that fits your staircase.
