Curved Stair Railings Shaped to Your Staircase
t335-31

A curved stair railing is fabricated to follow the exact arc of your staircase, so it sits evenly along every step and landing. At Techno Kol Uzi we measure on site, bend and weld the metal in our Tel Aviv workshop, and install a railing that matches the curve of your stairs.
Why a Curved Railing Needs Custom Shaping
Curved and circular staircases rarely follow standard lengths or radii. A railing bought off the shelf will either leave gaps or fail to meet the wall and posts correctly. Each curve has its own radius, rise and step geometry, so the railing has to be designed for that specific staircase.
Custom shaping ensures the handrail flows smoothly from the bottom newel to the top, without visible joints where they should not be and with a comfortable, continuous grip for the user.
How We Measure a Curved Staircase
Our process starts with a visit to your home. We measure the staircase radius, the step width, the height from each tread to the handrail line, and the position of walls and landings. Photos help us understand the space, but site measurement is what makes the final fit accurate.
- Inner and outer radius of the curve
- Step rise, depth and nosing
- Wall and ceiling clearances
- Position of newels and posts
Materials and Shapes Available
Curved railings can be made in iron, stainless steel or aluminum, depending on the look you want and the conditions of the space. Iron offers a classic profile, stainless steel suits a clean modern finish, and aluminum is light and easy to handle on long curves.
The handrail can be round, square or flat, and the balusters can be vertical bars, horizontal lines or a glass infill. We will suggest what suits your staircase and your interior.
Drawing, Approval and Production
Before production we prepare a drawing and a written specification showing the curve, the post positions, the bar spacing and the finish. You review and approve it before any metal is cut. This step prevents surprises and makes sure both sides agree on what will be built.
Once approved, the sections are bent and welded in our factory, then checked against the drawing so they will fit the staircase on site.
Finishing for Durability
Metal railings in Israel face sun, humidity and salty air near the coast, so the finish matters. Iron elements are typically hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection and then powder coated in the color you choose. Stainless steel is finished to a polished or brushed look.
Finishing also affects the feel of the handrail, so we pay attention to smooth edges and clean welds where your hand will touch.
Installation on Your Staircase
Installation is carried out on site by our team. We fix the posts and the curved handrail to the steps, landing or wall, and check alignment at each point of the curve before finishing the joints. Plumb, level and smooth flow are checked along the whole run.
The railing should meet the relevant Israeli railing standard (SI 1142) and the exact heights, loads and fixings are confirmed with the engineer for your building.
Frequently asked questions
Can you match a railing to an existing curved staircase?
Yes. We measure the existing staircase on site and build the railing to follow its exact curve. Photos are a useful first step, but the final dimensions come from measurement.
Do curved railings cost more than straight ones?
Curved railings require more shaping and fabrication work than straight ones. For a specific quote, please send us photos and measurements through our contact channels.
Which material is best for a curved staircase?
It depends on the look and the environment. Iron with a powder-coated finish is a classic choice, stainless steel suits modern interiors, and aluminum is lighter for long curves.
How long does the process take?
Timing depends on the size of the project and the current workload. After approval of the drawing, we will give you a schedule for production and installation.
Common mistakes to avoid
Ordering a railing from a photo alone or measuring only one step can lead to a curve that does not fit. Always have the staircase measured on site before production begins.
Our recommendation
Ask for the drawing and specification to be approved in writing before production, and confirm the post positions and handrail height against your building's requirements. Checking these early avoids costly corrections later.
Summary
A curved stair railing is shaped and built to the exact geometry of your staircase, from measurement and drawing to finishing and installation. Custom fabrication gives a smooth, safe handrail that fits the space.
