Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel Staircases for Outdoor Use

A galvanized steel staircase is a steel structure coated by hot-dip galvanizing, which bonds a thick zinc layer to the steel for long-lasting protection outdoors. At Techno Kol Uzi, every staircase is measured on site, drawn to specification, made to measure in our Tel Aviv factory, galvanized, and then installed. This process suits exterior staircases exposed to weather, humidity and salt air.

Why Choose Hot-Dip Galvanizing for Outdoor Stairs

Outdoor staircases face rain, humidity, sun and daily use, and bare steel rusts quickly under these conditions. Hot-dip galvanizing dips the finished steel into molten zinc, creating a metallurgical bond that covers edges, welds and hard-to-reach corners evenly.

  • Protection that reaches inside tubes and joints
  • Less maintenance than painted steel alone
  • A solid base for an additional finish if you want a color

Galvanizing is a good choice for exterior stairs in coastal and humid conditions.

Measuring the Staircase On Site

Before any steel is cut, our team visits the site to measure the rise, the run, the landing and the available width. We also check the wall or floor the staircase connects to, the height of the top and bottom anchor points, and any obstacles such as drains, pipes or door swings.

Photos taken during the inquiry help us prepare, but they do not replace on-site measurement. Accurate measurements at this stage prevent problems during fabrication and installation.

Planning the Drawing and Specification

After measurement, we prepare a drawing and a written specification covering the stringer profiles, tread type, handrail and balustrade design, connection details and the galvanizing and finish requirements. You review and approve the drawing before production starts, so you know exactly what will be built.

Structural loads and the required railing standards, including the Israeli railing standard SI 1142, are checked with the engineer on your project. Exact values are confirmed at this stage rather than assumed.

Production in Our Tel Aviv Factory

Once the drawing is approved, the steel is cut, shaped and welded in our workshop at Rival Street 37, Tel Aviv. Each part is fabricated to the measurements taken on site, and welds are ground and cleaned so the zinc coating adheres properly.

  • Cutting and forming of stringers and supports
  • Welding and fitting of the full structure
  • Preparation of surfaces before galvanizing

Galvanizing and Finishing

The fabricated staircase is cleaned and dipped in molten zinc, then inspected for coating coverage. Where a color or specific look is required, the galvanized surface can receive a powder coat finish, which adds visual variety while keeping the zinc protection underneath.

Plan the finish early, since the choice affects how the surface should be prepared and how the parts are handled after dipping.

Installation and Final Checks

Our installation team fixes the staircase to the agreed anchor points, levels each step, and checks the handrail height and balustrade spacing. We verify that the structure is firm, the connections are tight and the finish is undamaged before handover.

If touch-ups are needed after installation, we handle them so the staircase looks uniform and remains protected.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a galvanized steel staircase last outdoors?

Hot-dip galvanizing provides strong long-term corrosion protection in outdoor conditions. The actual lifespan depends on climate, exposure and maintenance, so ask us about the expected performance for your location.

Can a galvanized staircase be painted or powder coated?

Yes, the galvanized surface can be powder coated in a chosen color for a finished look. We will advise on the right preparation for the finish you select.

Do I need to be home during the on-site measurement?

It helps to be present so we can confirm the layout, anchor points and any access issues together. Please arrange a time that works for you when you contact us.

How do I start a staircase project with Techno Kol Uzi?

Send us photos of the staircase area and a short description of what you need. We will then arrange an on-site measurement and prepare a drawing for your approval.

Common mistakes to avoid

Ordering a staircase from photos alone and skipping on-site measurement often leads to misfit parts. Also, forgetting to plan the finish or anchor points before production can cause costly changes later.

Our recommendation

Share the exact landing, wall and floor conditions at the start so we can measure correctly the first time. Decide on the color or finish before production to keep the process smooth.

Summary

Hot-dip galvanized steel staircases give exterior stairs durable protection and are made to measure from on-site measurement through installation. Contact us to begin with a site visit and a drawing for your approval.
