Pool Glass Railing Design Process: From Measure to Install

t348-36

t348-36

A pool glass railing is designed through a clear sequence: an inquiry with photos, an on-site measurement, a written drawing and specification, your approval, factory production with the right finish, and professional installation. Following this order keeps the glass, posts and fixings matched to your pool edge and safety needs. Exact structural values are always confirmed with the engineer.

Step 1: Send an inquiry with photos

Start by sending us photos of the pool edge, the deck and the area where the barrier will stand. Add a short note about what you want to achieve, such as a clear view of the water, a child-safe barrier or a modern look that matches the house.

  • Overall photos of the pool and deck
  • Close-ups of the edge and any steps
  • Notes on existing tiles, stone or wood

These images let us understand the layout before we visit, so the first conversation is focused and useful.

Step 2: On-site measurement

Our team visits the property to measure the exact run of the railing, the height from the deck surface, and the depth of any slabs or ledges. We also check how the glass base will sit, whether it will be fixed to the deck, to a side wall or to a coping edge.

Measuring on site is essential because pool surrounds are rarely perfectly level, and small differences affect how the glass panels fit and how the posts are anchored.

Step 3: Drawing and written specification

After the visit we prepare a drawing showing the layout, panel sizes, post positions, glass type and the fixing method. A written specification accompanies it, listing materials, finishes and installation notes so nothing is left to guesswork.

What the drawing covers

The drawing shows where each panel begins and ends, the gap at corners and gates, and how the handrail, if any, is connected. You review it before anything goes into production.

Step 4: Your approval

We send the drawing and specification for your review. Take time to check the panel layout, the height and the finish colour. Ask questions about anything unclear, and request changes now, when they are simple to make.

Once you approve in writing, the design is locked and production can begin. This step protects you from surprises later.

Step 5: Factory production and finishing

The approved design goes into production at our factory at 37 Rival Street in Tel Aviv. Metal posts and fittings are cut, shaped and welded or assembled to the drawing, then finished with hot-dip galvanizing or powder coating, which protect against the humid, chlorinated air around pools.

Glass is cut to the measured sizes and prepared for the chosen fixings. Each component is checked against the drawing before it leaves the workshop.

Step 6: Installation and final check

Our installers fix the posts and set the glass panels according to the drawing, checking levels and gaps as they work. Fixings are chosen for the deck type, whether tile, concrete or stone. Any requirement under the Israeli railing standard SI 1142 is reviewed with the engineer, who confirms the exact values for your project.

At the end we walk the barrier with you, check that everything is secure, and explain how to clean the glass and care for the finish.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the design process usually take?

Timing depends on the size of the project and the current workload in the factory. We confirm the schedule with you once the drawing is approved.

Do I need to be home for the measurement?

It helps to be present so you can point out the edge, the steps and any features you want to keep. We can arrange a suitable time with you.

Can I change the design after approving the drawing?

Changes are easiest before production starts. After approval, any modifications should be agreed in writing, as they can affect cutting and fittings.

Are pool glass railings checked against safety standards?

Yes. We review the design against the Israeli railing standard SI 1142 in general terms, and the engineer confirms the exact requirements for each installation.

Common mistakes to avoid

A common mistake is ordering before a proper on-site measurement, which leads to panels that do not fit the real edge. Another is approving a drawing without checking the glass position, gate gaps and finish colour.

Our recommendation

Ask for the drawing and specification in writing before production, and confirm the post placement and fixing method for your deck material. Keeping the design simple around the pool edge usually gives the cleanest and safest result.

Summary

A pool glass railing is planned in steps: inquiry, measurement, drawing, approval, factory production, and installation, each one building on the last. Following this process gives you a barrier that fits your pool edge well and lasts in a wet environment.
