Gate Repair Request Process: How Techno Kol Uzi Handles It
t278-42

A gate repair request starts with a short description and photos of the fault, followed by an on-site check to find the cause. After you approve a written plan, the gate is repaired or rebuilt in our Tel Aviv factory and reinstalled at your property.
Step 1: Describe the Problem and Send Photos
The first step of any gate repair request is a clear description of what is happening. Tell us whether the gate sags, sticks, does not latch, makes grinding noises, or whether the electric motor stopped responding. Note when the problem started and whether it came after a storm, a car impact, or simply years of use.
Photos help a great deal. Send a picture of the whole gate, a close-up of the hinges and latch, and the post it hangs from. This lets us estimate whether a simple adjustment will do or whether a part needs to be made from scratch.
Step 2: On-Site Inspection and Measurement
Once we have your details, a technician visits the property to inspect the gate in place. We check the posts, the hinge alignment, the gap to the ground, the frame condition, and the operation of any automatic mechanism. Damage to the underlying structure is often the real reason a gate fails.
We measure the opening and the damaged sections exactly. Where needed, we record the existing profile sizes so that replacement parts match the original design and fit the wall or pillar properly.
Step 3: Written Specification and Your Approval
After the inspection, you receive a written specification describing the repair or replacement, the materials, and the finish. It states which parts will be repaired, which will be replaced, and what work is needed at the posts. Nothing goes into production before you have reviewed and approved this document.
- Scope of repair or replacement
- Materials and profile types
- Finish: hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating where relevant
- Installation steps and any site preparation required
Step 4: Repair in Our Factory
Once approved, the gate parts are cut, welded, and assembled in our workshop at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv, which has operated since 1945. Working in the factory gives us controlled conditions, precise alignment, and proper welding that is difficult to achieve on a damaged gate standing in the yard.
Damaged sections are straightened or rebuilt, worn hinges are replaced, and the leaf is checked for square before it moves on. For automatic gates, the mechanical frame is prepared so the motor and accessories can be mounted correctly.
Step 5: Finishing and Protection
A repaired gate needs a finish that resists weather and corrosion. Depending on the agreed specification, the metal may be hot-dip galvanized for long-term protection and then powder coated in the color you choose. Galvanizing before coating provides a strong base layer against rust, especially in coastal and humid conditions.
Repaired welds and any bare areas are treated before the final coat so the new work matches the rest of the gate in appearance and durability.
Step 6: Reinstallation and Final Check
Our team returns to install the repaired gate. We reset or repair the hinge posts, hang the leaf, set the correct gap to the ground, and adjust the latch and any automatic components. Before leaving, we open and close the gate several times to confirm it runs smoothly and locks securely.
We walk through the adjustments with you so you know how the gate should behave and what to report if something changes later.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a gate repair request take to complete?
The timeline depends on the damage and on how much fabrication is needed, so we confirm it in the written specification. Simple adjustments are quicker than rebuilding a leaf or replacing a motor frame.
Do I need to be home during the inspection?
Being present helps, because you can point out the problems you have noticed and show how the gate behaves. If that is not possible, send clear photos and a short description in advance.
Can you repair an old gate or only replace it?
In many cases the existing gate can be repaired, straightened, and refinished instead of replaced. The inspection shows whether the frame is sound enough to keep.
Will the repaired gate match the rest of my fence?
We match profile sizes and finishes where possible, and we can apply a new powder coat color if the original is faded or damaged. Our specification will show exactly what is being matched.
Common mistakes to avoid
Many owners wait until a gate is fully stuck or damaged, which often turns a simple adjustment into a larger repair. Sending no photos or details also slows the process, because we cannot judge the problem before visiting.
Our recommendation
Report sagging, scraping, or latch problems early, while the damage is still small. Keep the written specification and photos on file so future repairs can be compared against the original work.
Summary
A gate repair request moves from your description and photos to an on-site inspection, a written approved plan, factory repair, finishing, and reinstallation. Clear communication at the start keeps the process efficient and the result reliable.
