Repairing Damaged Security Bar Sections: Our Process
t264-35

Bent or broken security bar sections can often be repaired rather than fully replaced, depending on the damage to the iron or aluminum and the condition of the frame. The process starts with an on-site inspection and measurement, followed by a written specification, factory repair, protective finishing and reinstallation.
Step 1: Inspecting the Damage
Every repair starts with a careful look at the bar. We check whether the section is only bent, whether it is cracked or broken at a weld, and whether the anchors in the wall or frame have loosened. Corrosion is also important, especially on older iron bars where rust may have weakened the metal beneath the surface.
- Bend or dent location and severity
- Cracks or broken welds
- Rust and coating condition
- Condition of anchors and fixing points
Clear photos sent with your inquiry help us start the assessment.
Step 2: On-Site Measurement
We measure the damaged section and the surrounding bars so the repaired piece matches the original profile, spacing and height. Accurate measurement prevents gaps, misalignment and rattling once the bar is back in place. We also note the size of the opening and how the bar connects to the frame.
If only one section is damaged, we measure the adjacent bars as well to make sure the repair blends in visually and fits the existing pattern.
Step 3: Drawing and Written Specification
After measuring, we prepare a simple drawing and a written specification. It describes the repair method, the material, the finish and any parts to be replaced. You review and approve it before any work begins, so there are no surprises about what will be done.
If the damage suggests the bar cannot be safely repaired, we will say so and recommend a replacement section instead.
Step 4: Factory Repair
The damaged section is taken to our workshop at Rival Street 37 in Tel Aviv. We straighten bent sections under controlled conditions, cut out and replace damaged pieces, and re-weld joints where needed. Aluminum and iron are handled differently, so the method always matches the material and the load the bar must carry.
Once repaired, each piece is checked against the original measurements before moving to finishing.
Step 5: Finishing and Protection
To protect the repaired area from future rust, we use hot-dip galvanizing for iron or powder coating for a color match. The finish should cover the weld zones and any exposed metal so that the repair lasts as long as the rest of the bar.
Tell us your existing color or finish, and we will match it as closely as possible.
Step 6: Reinstallation
We reinstall the repaired section and check that it is straight, level and firmly anchored. If the wall anchors were loose, we replace or reset them so the bar is safe to use. A final check confirms the bar lines up with its neighbors and opens and closes without obstruction.
For railings and safety-related fixings, exact requirements are verified with the engineer, with reference to the Israeli railing standard SI 1142.
Frequently asked questions
Can a bent security bar always be repaired?
Many bent bars can be straightened, but cracked or heavily corroded sections are often better replaced. We confirm this after inspecting the bar.
Do I need to remove the whole security bar?
Usually not. In most cases only the damaged section is removed, repaired and reinstalled, while the rest of the bar stays in place.
Will the repaired section match the rest of the bar?
We aim for a close match in profile and finish. Powder coating can match a color, and galvanizing protects iron, though a small visible difference can sometimes remain.
How do I start a repair inquiry?
Send clear photos of the damage and the surrounding bars. We will then arrange an on-site measurement and prepare a specification for your approval.
Common mistakes to avoid
Waiting too long to fix a bent bar can let rust spread and anchors loosen, making the repair harder. Also avoid forcing a bent bar back by yourself, as this can crack the metal or the weld.
Our recommendation
Have a damaged bar inspected early, while the damage is still limited to one section. Ask for a written specification before approving work so you know exactly what will be repaired.
Summary
Damaged security bars can often be repaired through inspection, measurement, factory repair, finishing and careful reinstallation. Early action keeps the repair simpler and more durable.
