Storefront Window Planning Process: From Measure to Install

t404-44

t404-44

A good storefront window planning process starts with an accurate on-site measurement, followed by a written drawing and specification that you approve before anything is made. The aluminum frames are then manufactured to measure in our Tel Aviv factory and installed on your premises. Following these steps in order prevents fit problems and costly changes later.

Step 1: Initial Inquiry and Photos

Every project begins with a simple inquiry. Send us photos of the existing shopfront from several angles, including the surrounding wall, the sign area and the entrance. Mention what you want to change: replacing old windows, widening an opening, adding a door, or building a new facade.

Photos help us understand access, sunlight direction and the general condition of the structure before we visit. This saves time on the first site visit and lets us tell you early whether the idea is practical.

Step 2: On-Site Measurement

Measurement is the most important step. We measure the opening at several heights and widths, because walls are rarely perfectly straight or level. We also check the depth of the reveal, the type of wall material, and any lintels, beams or pipes that affect the frame position.

  • Opening width at top, middle and bottom
  • Opening height on both sides
  • Wall thickness and reveal depth
  • Floor level and threshold height

Measure carefully, and let us verify the numbers before anything is ordered.

Step 3: Drawing and Written Specification

Based on the measurements, we prepare a drawing showing the frame layout, opening direction, glazing and the position of any door or transom. The written specification lists the aluminum profile type, glass type, finish color and hardware, so there is no guesswork about what is being built.

Review the drawing closely. Check that the sizes match your shop design and that door swings do not block displays or the walkway.

Step 4: Client Approval

Nothing goes into production until you approve the drawing and specification in writing. This is the point to request changes, such as a different frame division or a fixed panel instead of an opening one. Once approved, the drawing becomes the reference for manufacturing.

Approval protects both sides: you know exactly what you will receive, and we build to a confirmed plan.

Step 5: Factory Production and Finishing

At our factory at 37 Rival Street in Tel Aviv, the aluminum profiles are cut, joined and assembled to the approved measurements. Glass is cut and fitted, and the frames are finished with the agreed surface treatment. Each unit is checked for square, alignment and smooth operation before it leaves the workshop.

Production to measure means the windows arrive matched to your opening rather than adjusted on site.

Step 6: Installation at Your Shop

Installation is done carefully to protect your finished storefront. The frames are set level and plumb, fixed to the structure, and sealed to keep out water and air. We clean up the area and check that doors and windows open and close correctly.

  • Protect floors and nearby surfaces
  • Confirm level, plumb and square
  • Seal joints against weather
  • Test all opening parts

Frequently asked questions

How long does the planning process take before production starts?

The timeline depends on the size of the project and how quickly you approve the drawing. The approval step is the main factor, so reviewing the drawing promptly keeps things moving.

Do I need to be present for the measurement?

It is helpful if you or a representative can attend, because we can confirm the purpose of each opening and any constraints. You can also share photos and key details in advance.

Can I change the design after approval?

Changes are possible before production begins, but once the frames are being made, changes may affect the schedule and cost. That is why we confirm the drawing carefully at the approval stage.

Do you handle both the windows and the installation?

Yes, we manufacture the aluminum windows in our factory and install them at your shop as part of the same process.

Common mistakes to avoid

The most common mistake is measuring once and relying on a single number, which misses wall irregularities. Approving a drawing without checking door swings and shelf or display clearance also leads to avoidable rework.

Our recommendation

Measure the opening at three heights and widths, and confirm the reveal depth before you approve any drawing. Ask for a written specification that lists the profile, glass and finish so the final result matches what you expected.

Summary

A clear storefront window planning process runs from inquiry and measurement through drawing, approval, factory production and installation. Careful measurement and written approval are what make the final result fit right the first time.
