Approving Fence Shop Drawings Before Production Starts
t306-44

Approving fence shop drawings means signing off on the final technical drawing that shows dimensions, materials, posts, infill, gate hardware and finish before anything is cut or welded. Once you approve the drawing in writing, production starts, so checking it carefully is the most important step in the whole project.
What a fence shop drawing shows
A shop drawing is the factory's detailed plan for your fence. It is built from the on-site measurement and shows the exact lengths, heights, post spacing, panel layout, gate position and how the parts connect.
It also lists the materials and profiles, whether the iron is hot-dip galvanized, and the finish, such as powder coating in your chosen color. Reading it carefully helps you see the fence as it will really look.
Our measurement and drawing process
After your inquiry with photos, our team visits the site and measures the opening, slope, wall type and any obstacles. These measurements are the basis of the drawing, so accuracy matters.
- On-site measurement and photos of the area
- Drawing with dimensions and panel layout
- Written specification of materials and finish
- Sent to you for review
How to review the drawing
Take your time and compare the drawing with the actual space. Check the total length, the height above the ground, the gate swing and the position of posts relative to walls, steps and drainage.
Confirm the design details you care about, such as bar spacing, top finish and decorative elements. If something looks different from what you imagined, say so before approving, since changes are much easier at this stage.
Making changes before approval
If you want a change, describe it clearly and, where possible, mark it on the drawing or send a photo. Typical changes include moving a gate, changing the bar pattern or adding a second handle.
We will issue a revised drawing for your review. Production only begins after you approve the final version in writing, so you always know what is being built.
From approval to production and finishing
Once the drawing is approved, the fence is manufactured in our Tel Aviv factory to your exact specification. Steel parts are cut, welded and assembled, then finished by hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating where specified.
Finishing is done in stages, so the color and protection you approved are applied before the fence leaves the factory.
Installation and safety checks
On installation day, the fence is fixed according to the approved drawing. Post depth, anchoring and alignment are checked on site. For railings and guarding, the Israeli standard SI 1142 applies in general terms, and exact values are verified with the engineer rather than assumed.
After installation we check that the gate operates smoothly and that the fence matches the approved drawing.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to approve the shop drawing before production?
Yes. We ask for your written approval of the final drawing before any cutting or welding starts, so the fence is built exactly as you agreed.
Can I change the design after approving the drawing?
Changes after approval are possible but may require a new drawing and can affect the schedule. That is why we encourage thorough review before you sign off.
What details should I check most carefully?
Check the overall dimensions, gate position, height, bar spacing, post locations and the finish color. These are the points that are hardest to change later.
Who checks the technical values on the drawing?
Our team prepares the drawing, and exact technical values for railings and safety are verified with the engineer before production.
Common mistakes to avoid
The most common mistake is approving a drawing quickly without comparing it to the real space, which leads to wrong gate positions or heights. Another is requesting changes verbally instead of in writing.
Our recommendation
Walk the site with the drawing in hand and measure a few key points yourself before approving. Put any change requests in writing so both sides work from the same version.
Summary
Approving fence shop drawings carefully is the step that protects your budget and your timeline. Review the drawing against your space, confirm every detail, and approve in writing before production begins.
