Custom Gate Design Process: From Sketch to Approval

t292-13

t292-13

A custom gate design process moves from your initial inquiry and photos, through an on-site measurement and a written drawing, to your approval before any metal is cut. Production in our Tel Aviv factory and professional installation follow only after you confirm the design. This sequence keeps the gate fitted to your opening, your driveway and your taste.

Step 1: Inquiry and photos

Every custom gate starts with a conversation. Send us photos of the entrance, the wall or fence it will attach to, and a rough sketch if you have one. Tell us whether you want an electric sliding gate or a swing gate, and how the driveway is used by cars, delivery vehicles or pedestrians.

  • Photos of the opening from the street and from inside
  • Notes on the ground slope and surface
  • Preferred style, color and finish

This early information helps us suggest the right mechanism before we visit.

Step 2: On-site measurement

Our team visits the property to measure the opening accurately. We check the width, height, the level of the ground, the position of posts or walls, and the space needed for the gate to open or slide without hitting a car or a planter. Where an electric motor is planned, we also look at the location of a power source and the cable route.

Measuring on site prevents the most common problems later, because a gate built from guessed dimensions rarely fits perfectly.

Step 3: Drawing and written specification

After the visit we prepare a drawing that shows the gate in elevation, with dimensions, the frame layout, the infill pattern and the position of hinges, rails or rollers. A written specification accompanies the drawing and lists materials, the type of finish, the mechanism and any accessories such as keypads or remote controls.

Read both documents carefully. They become the reference for production.

Step 4: Client approval

We send the drawing and specification for your review. You can ask for changes to the pattern, height, opening direction or finish. Once you approve in writing, we freeze the design. Changes made after production has started are harder and slower to carry out, so it is worth taking your time at this stage.

Approval is the point where the design becomes an agreed plan.

Step 5: Production and finishing

In our factory on Rival Street, we cut, weld and assemble the gate to the approved drawing. The frame is checked for square and alignment before finishing. Gates are then protected with hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating, which helps the metal resist weather and keeps the color consistent over time.

We check the assembled gate against the drawing before it leaves the workshop.

Step 6: Installation and handover

On the installation day, our crew fixes the posts or rails, hangs or fits the gate, and connects the motor and controls if the gate is electric. We test the opening and closing, the safety reversing function and the locking. Before handover we walk through the operation with you so you know how to use the gate and what routine care it needs.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the custom gate design process take?

The timing depends on the project size and the current workload, so we confirm a schedule after the measurement visit. Your approval of the drawing is a key step that sets the pace for production.

Do I have to pay anything before the drawing is ready?

Please ask us directly about the terms for the measurement and drawing stage when you make your inquiry. We will explain the process clearly before any work begins.

Can I change the design after I approve the drawing?

Changes are possible but are best made before production starts. Once the metal is being cut, modifications can affect timing and may require a revised drawing and approval.

Do I need to be present during measurement and installation?

Your presence is helpful, especially during measurement, so you can point out access, existing features and your preferences. For installation, being available for the handover walkthrough is recommended.

Common mistakes to avoid

Many clients approve a drawing without checking the opening direction, clearance for cars and the position of the motor. Take time to walk through the drawing against the real driveway before you sign off.

Our recommendation

Measure the space yourself as well, including how far a car door opens near the gate, and mention any future plans such as a new fence or a second gate. Sharing these details early keeps the design right the first time.

Summary

The custom gate design process runs from inquiry and photos, through on-site measuring and a written drawing, to your approval, factory production and installation. Approving the drawing carefully is the step that matters most.
