Aluminum Gate Production Process: Cutting, Welding and Finishing
t292-15

An aluminum gate is produced in a clear sequence: on-site measurement, a written drawing approved by the client, precise cutting of profiles, welding and assembly in the factory, then surface finishing and installation on site. Each stage affects how smoothly the gate runs and how long it lasts. Techno Kol Uzi follows this process for every electric sliding and swing parking gate it builds to measure.
Step 1: Measurement and Site Survey
Production starts on site. The gate opening is measured for width, height, and the ground conditions where the gate will run or swing. For sliding gates, the level of the ground, the space for the track, and the position of the posts matter. For swing gates, the clearance needed to open fully is checked.
- Opening width and height at several points
- Ground slope and surface type
- Position of the motor, power supply and posts
Measurements taken carefully at this stage prevent most later adjustments.
Step 2: Drawing and Written Specification
After measuring, a drawing is prepared showing the gate design, the profile sizes, the infill pattern and the mounting details. A written specification lists the materials and the finishing method. The client reviews and approves both before any cutting begins, so every decision is made on paper first.
Changes are much cheaper to make at the drawing stage than after material has been cut.
Step 3: Cutting the Aluminum Profiles
Once approved, the aluminum profiles are cut to the lengths in the drawing. Accurate square cuts are essential, because a small error in one profile shows up as a gap or a twist in the finished gate. Each piece is checked against the drawing before it moves on.
Cut edges are deburred so that the parts fit together cleanly during assembly.
Step 4: Welding and Assembly
The cut profiles are assembled on a flat work table and joined by welding. The frame must stay square, flat and free of twist while it is joined. Corners are checked with a square and diagonal measurements are compared before the frame is considered finished.
- Frame dry-fitted and checked
- Welds made with controlled heat to limit distortion
- Infill and hardware fitted to the frame
Step 5: Surface Finishing
Finishing protects the aluminum and defines its final look. Welded areas are cleaned and prepared so the coating adheres well. Powder coating is a common choice because it gives an even, durable surface in the colour the client selects. The finish is inspected for coverage and any marks before the gate leaves the workshop.
Good preparation before coating matters as much as the coating itself.
Step 6: Installation and Motor Setup
On site, the posts and track or hinges are fixed, the gate is hung or set on its track, and the electric drive is connected. The gate is then run through its full travel to confirm that it moves freely, stops at the correct points, and that safety features respond as they should. Clearances and alignment are adjusted until operation is smooth.
Installers check that the gate meets the requirements of the Israeli railing and safety standards where relevant, and exact values are confirmed with the engineer.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the production of an aluminum gate take?
Timing depends on the size of the gate, the design and the finish chosen. Your Techno Kol Uzi contact can give you a timeline once the measurement and drawing stages are complete.
Why is an on-site measurement necessary before production?
A gate must fit the actual opening and ground, which are rarely exactly as the plans show. Measuring on site avoids errors that would be costly to correct after production.
Can I change the design after approving the drawing?
Changes can be made before cutting starts, which is why the drawing is reviewed carefully. Changes after material is cut are harder and may affect the schedule.
Is powder coating better than other finishes for an aluminum gate?
Powder coating gives an even and durable finish in many colours, which suits outdoor gates well. The best choice depends on the location and look you want, and the factory can advise you.
Common mistakes to avoid
Ordering a gate without measuring the actual opening and ground conditions is the most common error. Choosing a finish or motor without checking how the gate will be used can also lead to problems later.
Our recommendation
Before you order, measure the opening at several points, note the ground slope, and decide where the motor and power will go. Sharing these details and photos with the factory at the start saves time at every later stage.
Summary
An aluminum gate moves from site measurement to drawing, cutting, welding, finishing and installation, and each step builds on the last. Careful work at every stage gives a gate that runs smoothly and looks good for years.
