Glass Infill Gate Process: From Measurement to Installation
t292-17

A glass infill gate is built in six stages: inquiry with photos, on-site measurement, a written drawing and specification, client approval, factory production with a steel frame and glass panels, then finishing and installation. Each stage checks the next, so the frame, glass and motor fit the actual opening and the way the gate will be used.
Step 1: Inquiry and Photos
The process starts with a short inquiry. Send photos of the gate opening, the wall or fence it will sit in, and the area in front of and behind the gate. Note whether the gate is sliding or swing, and whether you want it electric.
- Type of gate: sliding or swing
- Approximate width and height of the opening
- Surface beside the gate and the driveway slope
Photos let us spot space limits early, before anyone travels to the site.
Step 2: On-Site Measurement
Next, a technician measures the opening on site. Measurements are taken at several heights, because walls and posts are rarely perfectly square or level. We also check the ground, the pillar sizes, and where the motor and control box can be mounted.
For glass infill, we also record the glass zone and how it sits within the frame. Exact structural values are confirmed with the engineer, not assumed from a photo.
Step 3: Drawing and Written Specification
Once measurements are confirmed, we prepare a drawing and a written specification. The drawing shows the frame profile, the glass panel positions, the hinge or track line and the motor location. The specification lists materials, glass type, finish and installation notes.
Review the drawing carefully. It is the document both sides agree to before production begins, so changes are cheaper to make now than after cutting steel.
Step 4: Client and Architect Approval
Owners, building committees, architects and interior designers can all review the drawing. Approval is confirmed in writing. This step is especially important when the gate is part of a wider facade design, because glass color, frame finish and infill layout should match the rest of the building.
- Confirm dimensions and glass zone
- Confirm finish and color
- Confirm motor and safety features
Step 5: Factory Production
After approval, the work moves to our factory at Rival Street 37 in Tel Aviv. The steel frame is cut, welded and checked against the drawing. The glass panels are then fitted into their channels, and the gate is assembled and tested for smooth movement.
Checking in the workshop, before the gate leaves, means fewer adjustments on site.
Step 6: Finishing and Installation
The completed frame receives its surface treatment, usually hot-dip galvanizing followed by powder coating for outdoor durability. The gate is then transported and installed: posts are set, the gate is hung or runs on its track, the electric motor is mounted and the controls are commissioned.
We test the full cycle with you present so you know exactly how the gate opens, closes and stops.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the glass infill gate process take?
Timing depends on the project and workload, so the exact schedule is agreed after the drawing is approved. Ask for a timeline when you send your inquiry.
Can I see the drawing before production starts?
Yes. Every project gets a drawing and written specification, which you approve before any steel is cut. Changes requested at this stage are the easiest to make.
Is a glass gate suitable for an electric motor?
Yes, glass infill gates can be fitted with electric sliding or swing operators. The frame and motor are chosen together so the weight and movement suit the gate size.
Do you handle installation as well as production?
Yes. We manufacture in our Tel Aviv factory and carry out the installation, including posts, hanging or track, motor and controls.
Common mistakes to avoid
Ordering a glass gate from photos alone and skipping on-site measurement is the most common error, as it often leads to fit problems. Approving a drawing without checking glass position and motor location also causes costly changes later.
Our recommendation
Before approving the drawing, ask to see exactly where the glass panels sit and where the motor and control box will be mounted. Confirm these details with your architect or engineer so the gate matches both the facade and the safety requirements.
Summary
The glass infill gate process runs from inquiry and measurement through drawing, approval, factory production and installation, and each step protects the final fit and function of the gate.
