Custom Yard Gate Design Consultation: How Your Project Starts
t278-6

A custom gate design consultation begins with your photos and a description of the opening, followed by an on-site measurement and a written drawing and specification for your approval. Only after you approve the plan does production start in our Tel Aviv factory, followed by finishing and installation at your home.
Step 1: Sending Us Your Inquiry
Every gate project starts with a simple inquiry. Send us a few clear photos of the gate area, the wall or fence it will attach to, and the spot where the gate will open. A short note about how you plan to use it helps us a lot, for example whether it is for cars, pedestrians, or both.
- Photos from the street side and the yard side
- Rough width and height of the opening
- Preferred style, such as solid, perforated, or with glass
We review the inquiry and reply with the next steps and any questions we have before visiting.
Step 2: On-Site Measurement
A member of our team visits your home to measure the opening precisely. We check the width and height at several points, because walls are rarely perfectly straight or level. We also look at the ground slope, the position of posts or pillars, and how the gate will swing or slide.
During the visit you can point out anything that matters to you, such as the view you want to keep, the location of a driveway, or the direction the gate should open. Measuring on site prevents surprises later in production.
Step 3: Drawing and Written Specification
After the measurement we prepare a drawing of the gate and a written specification. The document describes the frame, infill pattern, materials, hinges or sliding track, locking system, and finish. We also note how the gate will be fixed to the wall or posts.
Where safety rails or guard elements are involved, we refer to the Israeli railing standard SI 1142 in general terms, and we confirm exact dimensions with the project engineer before anything is produced.
Step 4: Your Approval
We send the drawing and specification to you for review. This is the stage to ask questions and request changes, whether to the design, the height, the pattern, or the finish. Nothing goes into production until you have approved the plan in writing.
Taking time here saves effort later, because changing a drawing is far easier than changing a finished gate.
Step 5: Factory Production and Finishing
Once approved, the gate is manufactured to measure in our factory on Rival Street in Tel Aviv, where the family workshop has operated since 1945. Steel parts are cut, welded, and assembled with care so the gate hangs straight and operates smoothly.
Finishing follows production. Depending on the material and your choice, this may include hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating, which protect the gate from weather and keep its color over time.
Step 6: Installation at Your Home
On installation day our team brings the finished gate to your property and fixes it to the prepared posts or wall. We check alignment, hinge movement, latch operation, and clearance over the ground, then adjust until the gate works properly.
Before we leave, we walk through the gate with you so you know how it operates and how to care for the finish.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be home for the on-site measurement?
It is helpful if you are present so you can point out the gate direction, driveway use, and any views you want to keep. If you cannot attend, make sure someone who knows the property can meet our team.
Can I change the design after the drawing is ready?
Yes, you can request changes at the drawing and approval stage. Once you approve the final plan, production begins, so it is best to review everything carefully before signing off.
Is the consultation the same for sliding and swing gates?
The main steps are the same, but the measurement focuses more on the track length and clearance for a sliding gate, and on swing space and hinge placement for a swing gate.
How do you check that the gate meets safety requirements?
We refer to the Israeli railing standard SI 1142 in general and confirm exact values with the project engineer. We do not rely on assumptions when it comes to safety-related dimensions.
Common mistakes to avoid
Many homeowners skip the written specification and approve a gate based only on a sketch, which leads to disagreements about finish or height. Always check materials, dimensions, and fixing method in writing before production starts.
Our recommendation
Measure the opening yourself beforehand and note any slope or obstacles, then share those notes with us. This speeds up the consultation and helps us give you an accurate drawing on the first attempt.
Summary
A custom gate project moves from inquiry and on-site measurement to a written drawing, your approval, factory production, and installation. Clear communication at each step keeps the result exactly as you planned.
