Installing Window Security Bars: Step-by-Step Process

t264-23

t264-23

To install window security bars, the factory first takes precise on-site measurements, then drafts a written specification that you approve. The bars are then made to measure in our workshop, finished for corrosion resistance, and fixed to the wall or frame on installation day.

Step 1: Initial inquiry and photos

The process starts with a simple inquiry. Send us photos of each window or balcony opening, along with a rough description of the wall material and the direction the windows face. Photos help us understand the frame type, the surrounding space and any obstacles such as shutters, air conditioner units or tiled edges.

Tell us which windows need protection and whether you want a fixed design or a design that opens for emergency escape. This early information shapes the rest of the planning.

Step 2: On-site measurement

A member of our team visits the property to measure each opening. We record width, height and depth at several points, because walls and frames are rarely perfectly square. We also check the fixing surfaces, whether concrete, stone, brick or an existing frame, since this decides the type of anchor used.

  • Check the opening at top, middle and bottom
  • Note the depth of the reveal
  • Mark the position of any pipes or cables

Step 3: Drawing and written specification

After measuring, we prepare a drawing showing the bar pattern, spacing, bar thickness and fixing points. The written specification lists the materials, finish and how each bar is attached. You review the drawing and can ask for changes to the pattern or appearance before anything is produced.

Once you approve the drawing in writing, we consider the design locked. This prevents mistakes and keeps the production accurate to what you agreed.

Step 4: Production in our factory

Your bars are cut, bent and welded in our workshop at Rival Street in Tel Aviv, which has produced iron and metal work since 1945. Working in the factory rather than on site gives better control over straightness, weld quality and the fit of each panel.

Iron and steel bars then receive a protective finish, such as hot-dip galvanizing or powder coating, which helps them resist rust in the Israeli climate. Aluminum components are finished according to the chosen design.

Step 5: Installation day

On the agreed day, our installers arrive with the finished bars and the anchors needed for your wall type. They first confirm the openings match the drawing, then mark the fixing points, drill and set the anchors, and fix the frames firmly in place.

  • Confirm the set against the approved drawing
  • Mark and drill the fixing points
  • Fit and secure each bar section
  • Check that every panel is level and tight

Step 6: Final check and handover

Before leaving, we check that each bar is firmly fixed, moves no more than it should and opens smoothly if it has an opening section. We clean up the work area and walk you through how to operate any openings or locks.

If you have questions after installation, you can contact us and we will review the work with you. Keep the approved drawing for your records.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the whole process take?

The time depends on the number of openings and the complexity of the design, so we confirm the schedule with you during the planning stage. Measuring and approving the drawing usually comes before production begins.

Do I need to be home on installation day?

It is helpful for you or another adult to be present so you can confirm the layout and ask questions. We will agree on a time window with you in advance.

Can the bars be installed on any wall type?

We can fix bars to concrete, stone, brick and existing frames, and we choose the anchor type to suit the wall. Our team confirms the wall condition during the on-site measurement.

Will the bars allow an emergency exit?

Bars can be designed with a release or opening section so the window can serve as an escape route. Tell us about this need at the inquiry stage so the drawing includes it.

Common mistakes to avoid

Ordering before the opening is properly measured, or approving a drawing without checking the bar pattern and opening direction, often leads to costly changes. Always confirm the measurements and design in writing first.

Our recommendation

Ask for a drawing and written specification before production, and check that the finish suits your climate and wall type. Keep the approved drawing so any future adjustment is easy to verify.

Summary

Installing window security bars is a planned sequence: inquiry, measurement, approved drawing, factory production, careful installation and a final check. Following each step protects your home and avoids surprises.

Send us photos of your windows and we will arrange a measure
