Security Bar Lead Time: How Custom Orders Are Planned and Delivered

t264-21

t264-21

The lead time for custom window and balcony security bars depends on how quickly the measurements, drawings and client approval are completed, and then on the production and finishing steps in our Tel Aviv factory. Because every bar is made to measure, the timeline is set after the on-site survey rather than promised upfront. Planning the order early and approving the drawing promptly are the two biggest factors you control.

What Determines the Lead Time

A security bar order is not a catalog purchase. Each set is shaped to your openings, so the total time reflects several connected stages. The main stages are the on-site measurement, the drawing and written specification, your approval, production in the factory, finishing and finally installation.

  • Number and complexity of openings
  • Choice of iron or aluminum and the finish
  • How fast the approval is returned
  • Current production load in the workshop

Knowing these stages helps you plan your renovation schedule realistically.

Step One: Inquiry and On-Site Measurement

The process starts with an inquiry where you send photos of the windows or balconies. If the photos are clear, we can often prepare a first view of the job. However, accurate sizing requires a visit, because openings in older buildings are rarely perfectly square or level.

During the measurement we check the depth of the frame, the wall material, the fixing points and any obstacles such as shutters or air conditioning units. Scheduling this visit early avoids the first delay in the whole process.

Step Two: Drawing, Specification and Approval

After measuring, we prepare a drawing and a written specification covering the bar layout, profile sizes, fixing method and finish. This document is what you approve. Please read the drawing carefully and confirm the position of each bar, the direction of any opening and the colour you want.

Approval is often the step that causes the most waiting. Changes requested after production has started can add time, so it is worth settling the details before we move forward.

Step Three: Production in the Factory

Once the drawing is approved, the bars are cut, bent, welded and assembled in our workshop at Rival Street 37 in Tel Aviv. Each piece is made to the measured dimensions, so we cannot simply take stock off a shelf. The time needed depends on how many openings are in the order and how many pieces each opening requires.

Quality checks happen during production so that the parts fit correctly when they reach the site.

Step Four: Finishing - Galvanizing and Powder Coating

Finishing adds time but also protects the work. Iron bars are commonly hot-dip galvanized before being powder coated, which improves resistance to weather, especially near the coast. Aluminum bars are typically finished in powder coating or anodized tones.

Finishing is done by specialist processes, so it runs on its own schedule. Tell us early if you have a specific colour in mind, since matching it can influence when the work is ready.

Step Five: Installation and Final Check

When the finished bars are ready, our team arranges installation at your home or building. We fix the bars to the wall or frame, check that they are straight, level and firmly anchored, and confirm that any opening sections operate properly. For railings and balcony guards, we refer to the Israeli railing standard SI 1142 in general terms, and the exact values are checked with the engineer on the project.

Plan for the installation day to be accessible, with someone available to confirm the locations.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a custom security bar order usually take?

The total time varies by job size, finish and approval speed, so we set a timeline after the on-site measurement. Early planning gives you the most accurate schedule.

Can I speed up the process?

Yes. Arranging the measurement quickly and returning the drawing approval without delay are the most effective ways to keep the order moving.

Does the finish affect the lead time?

It can. Hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating are separate processes, so choosing a special colour or a heavier finish may extend the schedule.

Can you install the bars during a renovation?

We can coordinate installation with your contractor or building committee. Let us know the renovation sequence so the bars are ready at the right stage.

Common mistakes to avoid

A common mistake is requesting a delivery date before the measurement and drawing are complete, which creates unrealistic expectations. Another is asking for design changes after production has begun, which causes rework and delays.

Our recommendation

Book the measurement as your first step, and approve the drawing within a few days so production can start without waiting. Share your renovation dates early so the installation can be planned around other trades.

Summary

Security bar lead time is shaped by measurement, drawing approval, factory production, finishing and installation, so early planning gives you the most reliable schedule.
