Stainless Steel Platform Fabrication for Industrial Plants
t475-42

Stainless steel platform fabrication means designing and welding a custom elevated work surface, usually with a grating or plate deck, handrails and access stairs, sized to your plant layout. At Techno Kol Uzi we start with an on-site measurement and a written specification, then build the platform in our factory and install it on site.
What an Industrial Stainless Steel Platform Is
A stainless steel platform is an elevated work surface that gives operators safe access to equipment, valves, tanks, conveyors or control panels that sit above floor level. A catwalk is a narrow, long version of the same idea, often running between machines or along a process line.
Stainless steel is chosen when the area is wet, washed down regularly, exposed to chemicals or kept clean for food, pharmaceutical or water treatment work. It resists corrosion far better than bare carbon steel and needs less maintenance over the life of the plant.
Design Factors We Review With You
Every platform starts with the load it must carry, the spacing of its supports and the working area needed around the equipment. We also look at clearances to ceilings, pipes and doorways, because a platform that fits on paper may block a walkway in practice.
- Expected live load, including people, tools and stored parts
- Deck type: grating, checker plate or solid plate with drainage
- Height, span and support points fixed to existing structure
- Access route: fixed stairs, ladder or gate
Materials and Finishing
We fabricate in stainless steel grades suited to your environment, and we weld and grind the joints so they are smooth and easy to clean. Surfaces can be finished to a brushed or polished look depending on whether the platform is purely functional or visible to visitors.
Where a platform sits in a space with specific surface requirements, we agree the finish in advance and note it on the drawing so there are no surprises at delivery.
Safety: Handrails, Toe Boards and Access
Handrails, toe boards and stair geometry are the parts that protect people from falls, so they deserve careful attention. Railings for work platforms should follow the Israeli railing standard SI 1142, and we confirm the exact dimensions with the responsible engineer for each project rather than relying on general rules of thumb.
Access should be planned so operators are not climbing over obstacles. Gates at stair heads and clearly marked edges help keep the platform usable and compliant.
Our Process from Inquiry to Installation
The work follows a clear sequence so you always know what happens next. You send an inquiry with photos, we visit the site and take measurements, then we prepare a drawing and a written specification for your approval.
- Inquiry with photos and a short description of the use
- On-site measurement
- Drawing and written specification for approval
- Production in our factory
- Finishing, then installation on site
Installation and Coordination on Site
We prefer to fabricate in the workshop, where cutting, welding and finishing are controlled, and then bring finished sections to site for bolting or welding into place. This reduces disruption to running production and shortens the time spent working above live equipment.
Before installation we confirm access routes, lifting arrangements and any shutdown windows with your team, so the platform goes in as planned.
Frequently asked questions
Can you fabricate a platform to fit an existing plant layout?
Yes. We take the measurements on site and build the platform to the exact dimensions and support points of your existing structure.
Why choose stainless steel instead of galvanized steel for a platform?
Stainless steel resists corrosion from washdown, humidity and chemicals better and needs less upkeep. Galvanized steel can be a suitable choice in drier areas where budget and surface appearance matter less.
Do the railings meet safety standards?
We design railings with the Israeli standard SI 1142 in mind, and we confirm exact dimensions with the engineer for each project.
How do I start a platform project with you?
Send us an inquiry with photos of the area and a short description of what the platform is for. We will arrange a site visit and measurement from there.
Common mistakes to avoid
A common mistake is ordering a platform based only on a rough sketch, which leads to misfit supports and blocked access. Another is leaving out the load and access details, so the platform ends up too weak or too awkward to use.
Our recommendation
Before ordering, list everything the platform must hold and every route people will use to reach it, then have the fabricator measure on site. Discussing the drawing before production is the cheapest way to avoid rework later.
Summary
Stainless steel platforms and catwalks should be designed around real loads, access routes and cleaning needs, then measured, built and checked before installation. Techno Kol Uzi handles the full process from our Tel Aviv workshop.
