From Quote to Order: Our Door Ordering Process Explained
t418-14

The door ordering process at Techno Kol Uzi runs in clear steps: you send an inquiry with photos, we measure on site, prepare a drawing and written specification, and you approve it before production starts. Once approved, the iron or aluminum door is made to measure in our Tel Aviv factory, finished, and then installed at your property.
Step 1: Send Your Inquiry
Every custom door starts with a simple inquiry. Send us photos of the opening, the building entrance or the area where the door will sit, and tell us what you have in mind: iron, aluminum, a single or double leaf, with or without glass.
- Photos from inside and outside the opening
- A rough description of the use and style you prefer
- Your location and preferred contact method
Clear photos help us understand the site before we visit, so the first conversation stays focused and practical.
Step 2: On-Site Measurement
After reviewing your inquiry, our team visits the site to take exact measurements. We check the width and height of the opening at several points, because walls are rarely perfectly straight or level.
We also note the swing direction, the floor finish, the wall material and any obstacles such as pipes or electrical boxes. Accurate measurement at this stage prevents surprises during production and installation.
Step 3: Drawing and Written Specification
Using the measurements, we prepare a technical drawing and a written specification. The document describes the frame profile, the infill, the hinges and locking hardware, the finish and any glass or decorative elements.
Please read the drawing carefully. It is the basis for everything we build, so questions about dimensions, opening direction or appearance should be raised now, not after production begins.
Step 4: Client Approval
Production starts only after you approve the drawing and specification in writing. This is the most important checkpoint in the whole door ordering process.
- Confirm the dimensions and opening direction
- Confirm the material, finish color and glass type
- Confirm hardware and any special features
Once approved, changes become more difficult, so take your time reviewing the details.
Step 5: Factory Production and Finishing
With approval in hand, the door is manufactured in our Tel Aviv factory, which has operated since 1945. Frames are cut, welded or assembled, and the leaf is fitted with the agreed infill and hardware.
Iron doors are typically protected by hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating, which improve durability and appearance. Aluminum doors are finished according to the approved specification. Each door is checked before it leaves the workshop.
Step 6: Installation at Your Property
Our installation team brings the finished door to the site and fits it into the prepared opening. We check alignment, swing, lock operation and sealing, then make final adjustments with you present.
Before installation, make sure the opening is clear and the surrounding wall or floor work that affects the frame is finished. Good coordination between the site and the workshop makes the final fit smooth.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the door ordering process take from start to finish?
The timeline depends on the complexity of the door and the current workload, so we confirm the schedule with you after the drawing is approved. Clear communication at each step helps keep the process on track.
Do I need to be home for the on-site measurement?
It is helpful to be present or to have someone who can show the opening and answer questions about the site. This allows us to note the swing direction and any obstacles accurately.
Can I change the design after I approve the drawing?
Changes are possible but may affect the schedule and details of production, so it is best to request them before approval. Once production has begun, any change should be discussed with our team first.
Do you install the door yourselves?
Yes, our installation team fits the door at your property and checks alignment, locking and sealing with you. We recommend finishing related wall and floor work before the installation date.
Common mistakes to avoid
The most common mistake is approving a drawing without checking dimensions and opening direction carefully. Another is starting site work before the door is installed, which can damage the frame or the finish.
Our recommendation
Take the time to review the drawing against the real opening and ask about anything unclear before you approve. Agreeing on the details at this stage is the simplest way to avoid delays and adjustments later.
Summary
The door ordering process moves from inquiry and on-site measurement to drawing, approval, factory production and installation. Each step builds on the one before, so accurate information at the start leads to a well-fitting door at the end.
