Handrail Installation Service Request: Process Guide

t362-45

t362-45

To request handrail installation, send photos and basic dimensions of the staircase or balcony, then arrange an on-site measurement. Techno Kol Uzi then prepares a drawing and written specification for your approval before production and installation.

Start with a clear inquiry

A good service request begins with a few simple inputs. Send photos of the staircase, balcony or ramp, along with a rough description of the length, height and number of steps or levels. Mention the material you have in mind, such as iron, stainless steel or aluminum, and whether the railing will be fixed to concrete, tiles or a steel structure.

Also state the project timeline and the name of the site supervisor, so the factory knows who to coordinate with on the day of measurement.

On-site measurement

Measurement is the step that prevents most problems later. Our team visits the site to record exact lengths, slopes, wall and floor conditions, and the position of anchor points. Measuring a staircase should account for nosing lines and any finishing layers that will be added later, such as tiles or stone.

  • Confirm whether the surface is finished or still raw concrete.
  • Note any obstacles, openings or existing fixings.
  • Check access for delivery and installation crews.

Drawing and written specification

After measurement, we prepare a drawing that shows the handrail profile, height, post spacing, connection details and finishing. A written specification accompanies the drawing and lists the materials, coatings and installation method. Structural and code-related values are verified with the responsible engineer, so please do not treat any dimension in the drawing as final until it has been checked.

Review both documents carefully and confirm them in writing before we move to production.

Client approval

Approval protects both sides. Once you sign off on the drawing and specification, changes become more costly, so it is worth reviewing every detail: height, grip profile, infill type, and the exact location of each section. Ask questions now rather than after production starts.

Approval should be confirmed in writing, and any later modifications should be documented as revisions to the same drawing.

Production in our factory

Production takes place in our workshop at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv, where we cut, bend, weld and assemble the handrail sections to the approved drawing. Working in the factory allows us to control tolerances and quality before anything reaches the site, which reduces on-site adjustments.

Each section is checked against the drawing before it is released for finishing.

Finishing and installation

Finished parts are protected with the coating specified in your order, such as hot-dip galvanizing or powder coating, which improves durability in outdoor conditions. On installation day, our crew fixes the posts and rails to the structure, aligns them to the drawing and checks that the rail is firm and level before leaving the site.

Before the crew arrives

Make sure the surfaces are ready, access is clear and any tile or stone finishing that affects fixings is completed or planned.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the request process take?

The timeline depends on the project size and your schedule. Please ask our team for an estimate after you send your inquiry and site details.

Do I need to be present for the measurement?

It is helpful if someone who knows the site can be present. They can point out finishes, obstacles and access issues that are not visible in photos.

Can you install handrails on existing staircases?

In many cases yes, but the existing structure and fixing points must be checked on site. The measurement visit determines whether the railing can be fixed safely.

What information should I include with my request?

Send photos, approximate lengths and heights, the material you prefer, and whether the surface is finished. The more detail you provide, the more accurate the first drawing will be.

Common mistakes to avoid

Requesting a handrail before the final floor or wall finish is complete often leads to incorrect post heights and fixings. Skipping written approval of the drawing is another common cause of costly changes after production.

Our recommendation

Coordinate the handrail measurement with the tiling or stone contractor so both finishing heights are known before production begins. Ask for the drawing and specification in writing and approve them before any material is cut.

Summary

A smooth handrail project follows a clear sequence: inquiry, measurement, drawing, approval, factory production, finishing and installation.
