How We Survey Your Site Before Designing an Electric Gate
t292-5

A proper site survey measures the opening, checks the ground, slope, access and power supply, and records how the gate must move before any design begins. At Techno Kol Uzi we do this on site, then prepare a drawing and written specification for your approval before anything goes into production.
Why the Site Survey Comes First
An electric gate only works well when it is designed around the real conditions of the property. Measurements taken from a photo or a rough estimate often lead to changes later, so we always start with a visit to the site.
During the survey we look at the opening, the surface the gate will run on or swing over, the wall or pillar structure, and the space needed for the motor and controls. This gives us the facts needed to design a gate that fits from the first attempt.
What We Measure and Check on Site
Our technician records the clear width and height of the opening, and checks whether the sides are level and square. We also note any obstacles such as curbs, drains, planters or sloping ground.
- Clear opening width and height, measured at several points
- Ground condition, slope and drainage
- Space behind and in front of the gate for movement or swing
- Position of the pillars, walls and existing fencing
- Location of power supply, cabling route and intercom point
Drawing and Written Specification
After the visit we prepare a drawing that shows the gate type, its dimensions, the movement path and the position of the motor. Alongside it we write a specification describing the materials, finish and main components in plain language.
Where the structure needs checking, such as the strength of the pillars or the load on the foundation, we confirm the details with the engineer. Exact technical values are verified by the engineer rather than assumed, so the drawing reflects what the site can actually support.
Your Approval Before Production
We send you the drawing and specification for review. You can ask questions, request a change in finish or style, or confirm that everything matches what you expect. Production begins only after you give written approval.
This step prevents misunderstandings. Once you have approved the drawing, both sides know exactly what is being made and what is included.
Production in Our Factory
The approved gate is manufactured in our workshop at 37 Rival Street, Tel Aviv, where we have worked in iron, aluminum and steel since 1945. Frames, panels and mechanisms are cut, welded and assembled to the measurements taken on site.
After fabrication the gate receives its protective finish, such as hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating, which helps it resist weather over time.
Installation at Your Property
Our installation team arrives with the gate ready to fit. We set the posts, hang or guide the leaves, connect the motor and test the movement, safety sensors and controls with you present.
Before we finish we walk through how the gate operates and what routine care it needs, so you know how to use it safely from the first day.
Frequently asked questions
Is a site visit always necessary before an electric gate?
Yes, we recommend it for every electric gate. Measurements taken on site reveal slopes, obstacles and structural details that photos alone cannot show.
How long does the survey take?
A survey is usually a focused visit where we measure and check the ground and power connection. The time depends on the complexity of the opening and the access.
Do I need to be present during the survey?
It helps to be there or to have someone who can show us the access, power point and any restrictions. Your input on how you use the entrance is valuable for the design.
Can I change the design after approving the drawing?
Yes, you can request changes before approval. Once you approve the drawing and specification, we start production based on that version.
Common mistakes to avoid
Relying on a rough measurement or a photo alone often leads to a gate that does not fit or move correctly. Skipping the check of the ground, slope and power supply is another common problem that causes delays at installation.
Our recommendation
Measure the opening yourself at three heights and mention any slope or obstacle to us before the visit, so we can plan the right solution from the start. Ask for the drawing and specification in writing and confirm them before production begins.
Summary
A site survey gives us the real measurements and conditions needed to design an electric gate that fits and works well. Every step, from the visit to installation, is agreed with you before work moves forward.
