Requesting a Steel Staircase Quote: What to Include
t390-25

A useful steel staircase quote request includes accurate measurements of the floor-to-floor height and staircase opening, clear photos of the space, your preferred style and finish, and notes on access and installation conditions. The more precise the information you provide, the more accurate the written specification and quotation will be.
Start with the Basic Measurements
The first thing the factory needs is the floor-to-floor height, measured from the finished lower floor to the finished upper floor. Include the width of the staircase opening, the length available for the run and any wall or column positions that limit the space.
- Floor-to-floor height
- Available width and length
- Position of openings, walls and columns
If the stairs will be built before the finishes are complete, say so, because finished floor thickness changes the actual rise.
Share Photos and a Simple Sketch
Photos taken from the bottom and top of the staircase help us understand the layout and surroundings. A rough sketch with dimensions written on it is just as helpful as a drawing made by a professional. Mark where the stairs should start, which direction they should turn and where the landing should be.
Include photos of the existing railing or wall finishes if the new steel should match them.
Describe the Style and Finish You Want
Tell us which type of staircase you have in mind, for example straight, L-shaped, U-shaped or a spiral, and whether you prefer open or closed risers. Describe the railing style, from simple bars to a glass or horizontal infill, and the handrail you need.
Also mention the finish. Hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating are common for steel staircases, and the colour can be chosen to suit your interior or exterior. Note any wood treads or other materials you want combined with the steel.
Note the Use and Site Conditions
Explain how the staircase will be used. A private home, a shared building stairwell and an exterior staircase each have different requirements. Mention whether the stairs are indoors or outdoors, whether they face sun, rain or salty air, and whether children, elderly people or heavy loads are expected.
Describe the access route to the site, the floor structure and any restrictions on delivery or working hours in your building. These details affect how the staircase is planned and installed.
From Quotation to Production
After we review your request, we arrange an on-site measurement when needed and prepare a drawing and a written specification. You check the drawing, ask for changes if necessary and approve it in writing before production starts.
The staircase is then manufactured in our Tel Aviv factory, cut and welded to your measurements, and finished as agreed. Approving the drawing carefully at this stage prevents most later surprises.
Installation and Final Checks
Installation is planned around your building schedule and the condition of the floor structure. The stringers and supports are fixed to the existing structure, the treads and railings are fitted, and the alignment is checked before the work is considered complete.
Railing heights and spacing should follow the Israeli railing standard SI 1142, and the exact values are confirmed with your engineer during planning.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an exact measurement before asking for a quote?
Approximate measurements are enough to start the conversation. An accurate on-site measurement is needed before the final drawing and specification are prepared.
Can I send photos instead of visiting the site?
Yes, photos and a dimensioned sketch are a good start. In many cases an on-site measurement is still recommended to confirm the exact dimensions.
Which information affects the staircase design the most?
The floor-to-floor height, the available opening and the position of walls and supports have the largest effect on the design. Use and exposure to weather also influence the material and finish.
Can the steel staircase match my existing railing or interior style?
Yes, share photos of the existing railing and interior and state your preferred colour and finish. We can then propose a design that matches the look you want.
Common mistakes to avoid
Sending only a rough estimate of height without the finished floor levels is a common error. Leaving out the site access and delivery conditions can also cause delays and changes later.
Our recommendation
Before you request a quote, measure the floor-to-floor height twice, photograph the space from both ends and write down how the stairs will be used. Clear information at the start leads to a more accurate written specification.
Summary
A good steel staircase quote request includes measurements, photos, style and finish preferences, and site and use details. Providing these up front makes the drawing, approval and installation smoother.
