Packing and Protecting Gates During Transit
t278-32

Custom gates are protected during transit by wrapping finished surfaces, padding edges and corners, and securing panels so they cannot shift or rub during the trip. Gates are packed after finishing and checked before they leave the factory, so the surfaces you see at installation are the ones we produced.
Why transit protection matters for custom gates
A gate is made to measure, so a scratch, dent or bent corner on the way to your property can delay the whole project. Metal finishes such as hot-dip galvanizing and powder coating look excellent when new, but they are still surfaces that can be marked by friction, stone chips or careless handling.
Good packing starts from the factory floor. Before anything is wrapped, we inspect each panel and frame so that only undamaged pieces leave the workshop.
How we pack gates in the factory
Each gate section is first covered with a protective film that sits directly on the finish. Where two metal parts could touch, we place a soft spacer between them. Corners and sharp profile edges receive extra padding, because those are the points most likely to be damaged first.
- Film on all visible faces
- Padding on corners and edges
- Spacers between touching parts
- Labels showing each gate's position
Securing loads for the trip
Gates are loaded flat or upright in a way that keeps them still. Movement is the main cause of scratches during transport, so every bundle is fixed so it cannot slide or knock against other items. Heavier pieces go at the bottom, and the frames of larger gates are supported so they do not sag or twist.
Items that are sensitive, such as glass elements, are placed separately and marked as fragile.
Handling on site before installation
When the gate reaches your property, keep the protective packaging on until the installer is ready to fit it. Store gate sections on a flat, dry surface, off the ground and away from building work that produces dust, cement or paint splashes.
Avoid stacking heavy materials on top of the gate panels. If the gate must wait for a few days, cover it with a breathable sheet rather than plastic that traps moisture.
Checking the gate at delivery and installation
Inspect the gate as soon as it is unloaded, while the delivery team is still present. Look at the finish, the corners, the hinges and the locking points. If you notice a problem, photograph it and tell us the same day so we can record it and arrange a solution.
During installation, the installer removes the packaging gradually, so the gate is protected until it is fixed in place.
Our process from measurement to installation
Protection is one step in a longer process: an inquiry with photos, an on-site measurement, a written drawing and specification, your approval, production in our Tel Aviv factory, finishing, packing and finally installation. Because each gate is measured and produced for your opening, the packing is planned around the actual size and weight of the piece.
If you have questions about a specific gate, the team can explain how it will be packed before production begins.
Frequently asked questions
Will my gate arrive with a protective finish?
Yes. Finished surfaces are covered with protective film before loading, and corners and edges receive extra padding.
What happens if my gate is damaged in transit?
Photograph the damage and report it to us immediately, ideally on the day of delivery. We will review the issue and agree on the next step with you.
Can I store the gate before installation?
Yes, if it is kept on a flat, dry surface off the ground, away from dust and paint, and left in its packaging until installation.
Do glass elements need special packing?
Yes. Glass parts are packed and loaded separately and marked as fragile to reduce the risk of breakage.
Common mistakes to avoid
Removing the protective packaging too early or storing the gate on wet or dusty ground can cause scratches and staining. Stacking heavy materials on the panels is another common cause of bent or marked surfaces.
Our recommendation
Inspect every gate section at delivery while the driver is still there, and photograph any marks before the panels are moved. Keep the packaging on until the installer is ready to fit the gate.
Summary
Gates are packed after finishing, padded at the edges, secured for transport and checked at delivery, so they reach your property in the condition they left our Tel Aviv workshop.
